My Meeting With the Queen of Flooring - Debbie Gartner
I spent the better part of this morning and part of the afternoon visiting with Debbie Gartner, one of my favorite people on Activerain.
I recently read a blog of Dagny Eason's saying that she would be meeting Debbie in Stamford later that day. Of coarse by the time I read the blog, I missed the window of opportunity to join them but when I realized how close to me in proximity they were, I decided to create my own opportunity.
I gave Debbie a call and we blocked a window of time that worked well for both of us and arranged a meetup at Starbucks in Briarcliff Manor, a location convenient for both of us and yesterday was the day.
Debbie Gartner is even better in person than on-line. She's so warm, friendly and chock full of knowledge that she's more than willing to share. We just had so much to talk about, AR, our favorite bloggers and who we subscribe to, business - real estate and flooring, social networking, SEO, the Google universe, and the list goes on.
Debbie spent quite a bit of time sharing her SEO knowledge with me and trying to help me clear the fog around that topic. I learned that even though she has an extensive business background, she's only been in the floor covering business a little over 3 years. That amazed me, along with her marketing tactics and the thorough knowledge of her product.
We ran out of time before we ran out of topics and left fast friends with a promise to do this again sometime soon but to try and include some of our other New York buddy bloggers.
The best part of all these in-person offline meetings with our on-line friends is that you'd never know we were meeting face to face for the first time. You feel like it's old home week and that you've been fast friends forever. Instead of greeting each other with a casual handshake, it's a warm hug.
There are so many great people here in the rain that I'd love to know better. Debiie and I are hoping our next meetup will be at a NY raincamp, but barring that, then REBarcamp. There's one scheduled in January that we're hoping to go to. Anyone else care to join us? Let's make it an AR party!
