This is a real estate market that I suppose can bring out the best of us and the worse in all of us. Not only is the market beyond our control with waining demand it is how do we deal with all that is going on and still represent our clients in the best possible way. We have sellers that will not listen to us no matter how many facts and statistics we honestly lay out in front of them. We are trustworthy with their wishes and needs, and act as good stewards of their possessions. We are only trying to convey truth to them so that they will benefit from our knowledge. They ask us to try a higher numbered list price than we recommend...just for a few weeks. They beg until we relent, and then when two weeks roll around they do not want to lover the price. So at this juncture I assume patience is our virtue. Since we do not abandon the seller in their time of need, fidelity and loyalty come into play! Most agents I know are really stellar individuals that are very charitable and not driven by just the commission! They give their all knowing there is no return on the other end, and feel that the good will gesture may bring them some other business...(even though it may not) they give freely of themselves anyway!
I guess the interesting thing about most real estate friends and acquaintances is that they have an empathy for their clients needs. Most agents are very charitable! Financially at somepoint in our lives we've all been up against it at one time or another. We all hve felt the loss of a loved one or understand what it is to grieve or get depressed when things do not look like they are looking to well. Yet for most in real estate, they have a great sense of humor that gives them the ability to lift someone out of the doldrums. So yes, real estate isn't an easy job, but it is a rewarding career. It is a job that you can fall in love with, because we get to do more than just sell homes. It allows all who work it to be humbled by the lifes experiences of others, and be grateful with gratitude for all the blessings it can bestow upon us and those we serve. Please share your thoughts! Is a career in real estate just about selling homes?
