If I had to pick one word that explains why prospective buyers seek out Morgantown, a good 15 minute drive down the Fort Morgan Peninsula from Gulf Shores, it would have to be "quiet." Fort Morgan is primarily a laid back residential community, set among slow rolling sand dunes and golf courses. There are only a handful of condominium developments in the Fort Morgan area, which attract like minded people, looking for a vacation experience away from the seasonal hustle and bustle of both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Morgantown is what many would expect from a gulf front beach community, in that many of its homes are painted to match the pastel colors of their surroundings and provides must have recreational amenities either on-site or in very close proximity. Residents enjoy private boardwalk access to the beach, 2 tennis courts and 2 outdoor pools areas. There is a marina a mile west of the community, which offers a captain's pick of inshore fishing in Mobile Bay for specs or fishing the rigs offshore for Red Snapper. Next door to the marina lies Tacky Jacks, a great place for seafood and live music. Kiva Dunes, Alabama's only beachfront golf course, is a big draw for golf enthusiasts and has recently been named to GolfWeek magazine's "America's Best Resort Courses" national rankings.
Morgantown is a community of high quality, custom built homes at affordable prices. It is rare for even a gulf front home's asking price to exceed 1 million dollars. Many of the homes range from the 200's to 500's in price, with quality features like 2 master suites, custom cabinetry, granite countertops, high-end stainless steel appliances and durable metal roofs. The HOA dues vary but currently do not exceed $110 per month.
