This is my 10th Christmas in the Valley of the Sun in Chandler, AZ after moving here from Kenosha, WI. Every year I complained about the fact that it "just doesn't feel like Christmas" with temps in the 60's and not a single threat of snow....not ever.
Growing up in the midwest, we always prayed for a white Christmas. Here? Hmmm... Nope, no such hopes.
I love it when it clouds up and rain threatens for at the very least a little gloomy weather feels a little more like Christmas to me.
I've spoken to folks who grew up in the desert. They, of course, don't miss snow at Christmas. I say, they just don't know what they're missing.
Today as I prepare to pick up my eldest daughter from the airport and look forward to celebrating Christmas with both daughters and their families this year, I must admit...It's beginning to feel a lot more like Christmas.
Oh, there's still no snow, but it's a lot more than that, isn't it? It's about being around those we love and I guess it really doesn't matter if we're wearing shorts or snowpants. We'll all be together and for that, I am truly blessed.
Merry Christmas to you all.
