Dreaming of a white Christmas"There is a buzz here in Georgia about the possibility of snow on Christmas Day. And while that may not be a big deal in much of the country, it’s pretty exciting news here in Newnan!

In the nearly thirty-eight years that I have live in the ‘Peach State,” there have been a few significant snowfalls, but never on Christmas Day. So if indeed it does happen, it will be a very special event.

Growing up in Western Pennsylvania, a white Christmas was always a possibility though it was not a certainty. Many years were certainly cold enough, but there wasn’t enough moisture to produce snow.

But there were plenty of Christmases with the white stuff, and a good snowfall always made the holiday more enchanting!

So while I don’t expect to hear “sleigh bells in the snow,” I just might get to see the “treetops glisten!”

And that would be make Christmas “just like the ones I used to know!”

Just got off the phone with my brother is southern Georgia. He seems to be a bit unsure on the snow but it matters not as he is heading to Florida! Snow is nice to look at as long you don't have to drive very much!

White Christmases are nice. Two years ago Seattle had one and lack of instant access to all streets cause the mayor to fail in the primaries later on. It certainly was all his fault.

No snow in Gilbert AZ but we will be heading to Pinetop AZ for a week of playing in the snow in February. When I was growing up in Illinois we always got stuck in the driveway after Christmas Eve church service and only my Mom could leave the car and go into the house. When we finally were unstuck and went in the house--Santa had been there and left presents under the tree. Santa has to have a different plan in Gilbert AZ.

Richard, we, too, were on the Significant Snow Watch and I'm disappointed this morning to see we have been moved off the list. On the other hand we've had two not significant snows and I love them too! Have a great 2011!

Hi Richard..May your days be merry and white! (sorry, couldn't resist). Growing up in NY, I miss the snow as well. The last two Christmas's Portland has had some snow...so pretty nice. The good thing is that I can always take a drive up to Mt. Hood and get my snow fix. Have a wonderful holiday!
