How did Rudolph the red nose reindeer get his red nose? Kids ask that all the time and parents make up fantastic stories about that glowing red nose and none of it is true! I thought I might shed some light upon it and it all has to do with the physics of Christmas...it's a little book I bought for my son a long time ago and it clears up misconceptions about Rudolph's red nose.
By they way, Dagny Eason in her blog yesterday, along with the great BBC YouTube video, helped explain why Santa was always 'flying high' with his hallucinogenic connection...so catch up on that one too... but let us go back to Rudolph the red nose reindeer...
Unfortunately for reindeer, their noses provide a good environment for bugs. So the celebrated discoloration of Rudolph's nose is due to a parasitic infection of his respiratory system and it lodges externally in his poor nose. So poor Rudolph is burdened by these parasites, especially on Christmas Eve, and when forced to pull Santa's heavy sleigh - it gives him that red glowing nose! Alright I know you didn't like this one but it is founded on some fact...but an easier explanation may be that while Santa enjoys his milk and cookies, Rudolph the red nose reindeer is enjoying stronger stuff to drink! LOL...Merry Christmas All...that's how Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer got his red nose.
