Since I was a little boy I have been a Dallas Cowboy fan. No apologies. I grew up playing football in Arizona and dreaming of being good enough to get drafted by the cowboys. The main reason I liked the cowboys was.....

Dallas Cowboys

because they had great players. I have had the chance to attend two games in Texas Stadium. While in Arizona I attended several cowboy games. There are tons of cowboy fans in Arizona and all over. No matter who you root for in the NFL isn't it great to have the season started? Here are a few pictures taken with my camera phone from a pre-season game against Denver this year.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys

Dalas Cowboys

Here is wishing your favorite team a great year until they play the Cowboys that is. Nothing greater than NFL football!! How did we ever live through the off season.

Alan- Your Cowboys are lucky they don't have to play the Seahawks this year!!! =)

Perhaps we can meet up during the play offs? I agree how did we make it through the off season without Football!

Best,

I just got my season tickets for the Seahawks last year. Of course, I had the good fortune of almost having a heart attack celebrating Romo's bumbled hold in the play off game at Qwest Field last year. So for about two seconds I was a cowboy fan :)

You guys have a tough looking team this year. Good luck!!!!

That is a cruel reminder of a sad season end. Thanks for cheering me up. Ha.

At least with the new rules the ball boy for the seahawks can't grease up the football. HA

Good luck.

ALAN- LOL...yes it must have been difficult for you as a Cowboys fan... as a Seahawks fan for many years it was only a small slice of joy to make up for the many, MANY years of pain and suffering.....Until we win a Superbowl we will continue to suffer.

I highly recommend making a trip to Qwest field if you get a chance. It is a great stadium to watch a game in!

Always great to meet more Cowboy fans. We usually go to at least one game a year. The pictures above are the result of a wonderful birthday gift from my wife. I took my son who is 14 he is the one in the hat. I had seriously thought about the Thanksgiving game. Where do you go to get your tickets. We usually use ticket master.

Alan - as a 3rd generation Floridan Native and life long Dolphins fan I have to say I loved your post.  Who does not love those cheerlea..... I mean America's team! HHHHMmmm  only thing better than NFL?  College football! But I wanted to tell you that my best buddy is a HUGE Cowboy fan and he and I go to many games in Miami every year.  He always sucks it up and goes to the Fins games with me.  You can imagine how excited he was when the schedule came out and he found out the Cowboys would be here in Miami!! Needless to say, we will be at the game this Sunday and I will be sitting next to him.  Me in my Dolphins jersey and he in his Cowboys jersey!!  Good times.  He also goes to the Dallas game every year on Thanksgiving.  Boy did I love making the phone call a few years ago when Miami beat them on Thanksgiving.  Went something like this:

Me: "How's your trip going?  How about them Dolphins! Ha ha ha!"

Him:"Screw you!" Click.....

Have a great weekend and Go Dolphins!!  (even though I am sure the Cowboys will crush us this Sunday!

Thanks for your comments. I would not worry about getting crushed. We are still looking for that defense we have paid so much money for. I don't think Dallas has drafted an offensive player since 1995 and we still can't stop second and third string running back and receivers from having record games.

I just hope we manage to out score you this weekend. I am jealous that the two of you will be at the game. Miami is a great football town. Have fun and write back to let me know how much you cried when we beat you. HAAAAAA

HA!!!  That's funny!  I'll have to find out if we already have them...I think Jerry's smart enough to have a guarantee on tickets if I'm involved because crossing the alley (Alligator Alley that is) without tickets will result in a butt kicking from Shannon...I'm not good at wasting my time.  I'll give a heads up to Billy regardless!  Thanks!

Have fun with your family. I have been to my share of games that the Cowboys lost over the years and we make it fun anyway. We always go out afterwards for food, movies and local shopping.

The absolute craziest thing I ever did and almost got killed for by the oppossing teams fans and my wife was to buy 4 tickets to the Cowboys game a couple of years ago in San Fancisco. What I did not tell her was that the San Fancisco game sold out so I bought tickets for the Cowboys/Raiders game. Ever been to a Raider game in Oakland?

Just walking up to the stadium we were yelled at and had beer thrown at us. My brother was too afraid to wear his Cowboy shirt but I did. We lost the game but we had a blast in San Fran.

The real sell is the Cowboy helmet. Ha. I am doing open houses at two locations this weekend. Mine and a friend of mine who is out of town. I do one on Saturday and one on Sunday. So my weekend is pretty full with the community yard sale starting tomorrow morning and a dinner with contacts on Sunday night.

Plus Fred "my neighbor" has been mentoring me on my days off. Very interesting and he knows people from OLD Austin so each contact leads to more research. Don't know if it will turn into $$$ yet but I will keep at it as long as I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I am learning some things, his techniques are interesting.

Alan - yeah, those Raider fans are nuts!!  Da Radiers!  I can hear it now - especially since I have an uncle who is a big Raiders fan!! But like you say, being a DolFan I have been to way too many loosing games but we ALWAYS have a fun time.  Especially when I get to go with my girls.  And so you know, I showed the post to my daughter who was in the picture and she got mad at me.  Her response - "DAD!!  That picture does not show my Fins jeresey!"  Ahhhh got love the litte DolFans!

Jason - Not sure what you mean about beautiful girls will sell anything but I know I'm sold!!! Not bad for a big guy, huh? 9 years of marriage now! I just tell everyone it was because I am such a good salesman! The trick was to make her a DolFan since her whole family is from Chicago and love Da Bears!

Well, getting ready for the Dave Matthews Band concert tonight - with my beautiful girl / wife - and then Fins tomorrow!  What a great way to spend a weekend.  Daughters softball this AM, contract signed a few minutes ago, DMB concert tonight and Fins game tomorrow...Alright, now I know you hate me now for sure Alan!!  LOL.  Be in touch with some shots of the game from tomorrow.  Have an awesome weekend.

Yes, Arlington is a better location than Irving, in my opinion.  I was born and raised in Dallas, and I moved to the Austin area to go to school in Georgetown at Southwestern University.  I have attended a few games at Texas Stadium, but it has been a long time since I saw one live.  We used to have Mavericks season tickets.  The Cowboys look great so far - I hope they can keep it up!

In Miami, you can see the makings a very good offense and their defense is pretty good they just wore down in the end. I agree however that Trent Green is not the future quarterback. He has bounced around the league a bit. He had guys open just over threw them. Good game, but much closer than the final score.

Dallas still needs to shore up their defense.

Hey Guys - I'm back!!  Wow - what a butt kicking last night!  I gotta say that I am getting used to that being a DolFan which is pathetic!  Well, great crowd at the game and the Cowboys were well represented by the fans.  There were many Romo, Owens, R. Williams and Aikman jerseys running around the stadium yesterday.  Huge Cowboy fan turnout. I sat next to a bunch of them and they were all cool.  We had a real fun time going back and forth but in a fun way.  Not like those NY fans or New England fans.  They get nasty and rude and it makes it not too much fun.  There was a fight in the section next to me and 2 cowboys fans and one DolFan were removed by the police but that was all I saw and it was pretty much a screaming match back and forth.

Well, the first half was a game.  Back and forth and going into half time it was like a 4 point difference so the game was close.  I honestly have to say that the Cowboys defense (which has a bunch of injured players right now) was not that good.  The 4 interceptions were more because Green stinks than because the defensive backs were good.  At least 3 if not all 4 interceptions were literally passes directly to the defensive player.  They did not make a great break on the ball and beat the receiver - they just caught what was thrown to them!! But good for them.  Good stat night for the Cowboy's secondary!

Anyway, fun game, Cowboys won.  I will take my beating and now licking my wounds.  Great crowd with lots of fun and smiles all day.  And the best part was at the end of the 4th quarter with maybe 4 minutes left, hordes of DolFans were leaving the stadium and the Cowboys fans were singing the "Na na na na. Na na na na.  Hey Hey hey.  Good bye!" So I yelled at the DolFans (Mainly so my new Cowboy fan friends who were sitting around me could hear) "Hey guys, you are gonna miss the big comeback!"  It was a 17 point game at that time.  Of course the Cowboy fans were laughing at that comment but right then the Fins scored and brought it within 10 and they all looked at me and we laughed and gave high fives and then Marion Barber alks right into the end zone (high stepping!) to just shut the door and no hope of a comeback at that point.  So we all laughed and they enjoyed their big win and we all walked out the the parking lot and left.  Good times.

Congrats all you Cowboy fans!!!!!!!!  Maybe one day the Dolphins will have a winning season again.  In my lifetime!!!!!  Have a great day guys and thanks for the fun banter back and forth.  God I love football!!

Hey Billy:

Thanks for the post and the update. You are a great sport!! I agree the game was much closer than the score and I have real concerns about our defense fortunately for us Trent Green was not Payton Manning. I think the Dolphins are not far from turning their season around. There were flashes throughout the game.

Now to the most important part of your story...Where did you eat? What else did you do while in Miami? Send pics if you have them.

Thanks again...I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!!

Billy - Thanks for the commentary on what it was like to be there in person.  I have always heard the Philadelphia has the worst fans, but I have never attended a game.  They have a courtroom and a holding cell underneath the stadium there (true).  The Cowboys won big, but as Alan said, it was a closer game than the score would indicate.  Trent Green looked completely lost in the second half, and it really looked like the Cowboys secondary were running routes for him.

Go Cowboys!  Maybe they can win a playoff game this year.  It's been a long time -

Hey guys.  You gotta understand where Dolphin Stadium is.  It is not in the middle of the city - like the Orange Bowl (Univ. Miami although they just signed I think a 12 year deal to play all of their games in Dolphin Stadum now.  They are doing a $200 million dollar overhaul.  I hear the Jerry Jones is going to spend a Billion?) or the Miami Arena (Home of the Miami Heat and right on the water) are.  It is directly off of the FL Turnpike so you drive a bit west to get to it and once you take the off ramp - you drive into the stadium.  Whenever we go to a game we tailgate.  Dolphin Stadium is a great place to tailgate.  Big tents, cookouts, football in the parking lot, drinks, kids playing, etc.... nice party atmosphere.  So that is how I eat every time we go to the game.  Pull into your spot, open the back of the Tahoe up and pull out the coolers, BBQ, etc... and turn the radio onto the pregame and enjoy.  Throw the pig skin around a bit, talk trash with the fans parked next to you who are wearing the other teams jerseys, laugh and enjoy.  All around good time. This time my wife packed a really nice cooler for us - she is awesome.  2 Publix subs cut into slices, chicken fingers w/ honey mustard and BBQ sauce, potato salad, pasta salad, chicken salad and crackers, chips, soda, beer, sweet iced tea (gotta drink that in the south!), cut veggies and dip, sunflower seeds (a must).  We ate like kings.  Even had a Port-A-potty by us so did not have to walk throughout the parking lot to go to the restroom!  Then walk into the stadium and watch the teams run onto the filed, the guys parachute in with the smoke and the American Flag, Blue Angels do a fly over and then it is game time!

Of course when this game was over I had to take all the trash talk from all the stinking Cowboy fans living in South Florida.  Hey, I might have some referrals for you.  I told a lot of them that there was plenty of land for sale in Texas!  They could always move back! My buddy - the Cowboy Fan - had the camera so I will get the photos from him and try to get them on here for you.

I was kinda hoping the Eagles would win so the Cowboys would a game ahead of everyone, but it's always a good day when they lose, and I like the fact that they are 0-2 now.  Washington and Philly both seemed lackluster, based on the highlights I saw.

Hey Alan - No kidding!  My sincere hope in the next two games is that they don't get overconfident (St. Louis and Buffalo are both 0-3), then they host New England.  My guess is that if Dallas and New England are both undefeated when they play, this will be billed as a Superbowl preview (and that may be the case).

Over confidence is always a concern coming off a huge road win. Hopefully the coaches will be able to get their attention. From this point forward Dallas will be on everyones radar and they will not be able to sneak up on any team. Execution and little to no mistakes will be a must from now on.

I don't know if I am ready to say they are super bowl bound maybe after another 5 or 6 games. But they have been very impressive on Offense. That was a clinic on Sunday night.

Jason:  No, I didn't see it, but I just took a look, and signed up.  I used to watch Family Ties all the time... every week.  The way Michael J Fox (Alex) used to brainwash his little brother with his Republican conservatism was hilarious (I am a "progressive") lol.  And, Meredith Baxter Birney and her hubby on the show were such "liberal sixties hippies"... just like I am !  What a stitch.

In Fact... just thinking about the show makes me want to go out tomorrow to Best Buy and get a set of their old shows on DVD.  It was such a popular show back then, and now... there is so much garbage on TV.  I must be getting old.  Wait... lemme go look. ....... Yeah, I just looked... I AM getting old.  What a surprise... <grin>

I am sure you are right if the Cowboys go 5 and 0 that will be a huge game with the Pats.

Hey Karen:

Thanks for your posts. I have been a life long Cowboy fan. I was born in West Texas but raised in Arizona. My dad of course introduced me to the Cowboys when I was little. Dandy Don Merideth was the QB for the boys. Over the years I watched greats like: Bob Hayes, Randy White, Danny White, Too Tall Jones, Jethro Pugh. Roger Stabuch. and on and on...

At the age of 11 I used to go to the mailbox every day looking for the next issue of the "Cowboy Weekly". My dad liked it for the Cheerleaders, but I really did read every article.  We recently moved to Austin and I can't tell you how great it has been to be able to watch every game on TV Plus all the local sports shows.

Over the years I have amassed a nice little collection of Cowboy memorabilia including an Emmitt Smith Rookie card an autographed over-sized Card of Emmitt Smith, some super bowl memorabilia from the Super Bowl in Arizona with the Cowboys and Steelers.

I am excited about the new stadium. Trying to talk Jason into buying a luxury box on "Austin Texas Homes" but I don't think I am getting very far. Ha.

Thanks for all your comments. Have a great week!

Alan ... first congrats for the BIG win on the road. I have been to numerous Cardinals games and here's to the wonderful football season. Even if our teams don't win it is still nice to have football here once again!
By the way Romo is looking good this year! ;)

Hey thanks Jered. I watched a few cardnial games myself over the years. All in Sun Devil Stadium. I did not get to see the new Stadium as we moved to Vegas and then here in Austin. Speaking of Sun Devils, WOW what a great start! I am still a huge Sun DEvil fan. try to keep up with them as much as I can. Caught the game with Colorado on TV here. Hopefully they will keep it up as well.

 Have a great year!!

To be honest I haven't been to an ASU game in a long time. They are having a great start to the year ... they will have a tough USC game but who knows they could come out on top! It will be an interesting game to say the least.

Back when I had season tickets to ASU we used to thump USC regularly and we were Rose Bowl contenders up to the last few weeks of each year. Who knows maybe we are readly for the big time again. No better gave to prove it than the USC game. Do we have them at Home or away?

1:58pm • #87
ASU is at home (Nov. 22)! So it may be a rough one, this could be a deciding game for the program. One I am trying to get tickets for, you can image how that is going.

You guys gonna have an extra seat in that box for a visiting DolFan???????  Sounds sweer!  Better get selling boys.  Those things are not cheap!!!

Worse case scenerio just go and tailgate in the parking lot wait until about five to 10 minutes after game start and buy from the scalpers. I used to go to a lot of the big games that way before I had season tickets. You can get tickets pretty cheap and sometimes great seats. Wish I was there too.

That may be my only option! That game is pretty talked about in these neck of the woods. You know how that goes!

You know you are welcome!! You would just have to pay the out of state fee which is $1500 per game. How many can I put you down for...HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Hey I think Jason and Jerry Jones are good friends. He told me they went to different schools together. Ha

Send us some commercial or residental referras and we will secure the Sky box and mail you tickets to the game of your choice. Nothing better than watching a Cowboy game with a DolFan.

Well Alan, if you have a buyer for a $3,999,000.00 waterfront property here in Singer Island, FL then that may help.  HHHMMMMMm  3% of $3,999,000.00 equals...... enough to buy some tickets for the games!!!!!  Go to my blog and check out the one about this listing complete with photos.  Bring me a buyer and I will buy the first round of tickets to the game.  Heck, I will fly you over to S Fl to come to a game!!! Me and Wayne Huizinga are close pals.  I take his helicopter to games....  OK back to reality.  I have PARKED next to his heli pad and seen him drive by in the golf cart from his helicopter.  Close enough to dream!! And hey, if a guy who started out with one dump truck, a $5,00 loan from his dad and one stop of a route can become the owner of the Miami Dolphins then there is room for us too!  Never stop dreaming and pursuing the dream.  Hopefully one day we can have those boxes and visit each other for games!!!!!!  Big shot style! I am planning on it.

Billy:

Is that all you get for water front property out there? I will take two and put Jason down for 3.

The only catch in that success story about Wayne Huizinga is that he is so old that $500 dollar loan in that day woudl be equivelant to us borrowing 5 million dollars. If I had five million dollars, I would buy us both a golf cart. HA Just kidding. I would only buy one for me. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I love to dream but I love more making that dream come true so I will look for a buyer for your 3999000.00 dollar property. My referral fee is 35%. See you at the closing table. Heck lets buy the Dolphins!

Thanks for the post. Any friend of the Cowboys is a friend of mine!! Tony has been awesome this season. He looks like HOA material (hall of fame). Where did you see him? Was he giving a speech or just getting interviewed?

3:20pm • #97

Alan - I like making the dream come true as well! I am currently writing the business plan, web out line and so forth for one of my dreams.  The idea is awesome, it is in real estate and is a niche within real estate that is open for big dollars.   Hopefully I Can pull it through. Just gonna need the right partners in the right places.  We shall see!!!

As for Wayne, let's not forget AutoNation, Blockbuster Video, etc...  He is also building a big marina down from the property I am talking about.  Growing island area. And as far as the commission goes, I believe you can get a commission as long as you do not step foot into my state and talk real estate or about this specific property.  It is a 6% split on this listing but if you only want the 35% referral fee, then...  GREAT!

Also, I forgot to tell you.  Another buddy of mine went to the game I went to against the Cowboys and we were talking about it over the phone.  He went with a buddy who played ball in college with Tony Romo and after the game they hung out with him and met TO and so forth!  I was floored when he told me about that.  Would have been really cool! Even for a DolFan!!

Never one to turn down a larger commission, I read your blog after I sent the comments so I am in for half. I think I found the buyer. Ask your friend how TO liked Florida. He is from Texas and he is my referral. Go after him! Ha

Enjoyed your blog.
