Have you ever gone back and read your old post and comments? It's amazing how all of us have evolved. I have been reading my old posts and my old comments...I noticed defining moments. Events that changed my perspective of blogging. Events that have opened my world.
Recently I entered the contest Because of Activerain, many defining moments included there. These moments reminded me why I joined and it reinforces why I am still here today.
Defining moments creates clarity. Enlightenment. With a little action and awareness you'll create defining moments.
When I joined Activerain in 2006, I was with the big dogs. To me they were the pro's, while I was just reading the Q & A to start setting up my account many were well on their way to stardom...Courage...they have Courage!
I watched and observed how their writing evolved!
At first I was really intimidated. I posted my first comment in September. Big Defining Moment!
For some reason it was painful for me.
In the beginning Activerain was like too much work.
Just another task I had to do another thing to master. I really fought it in the beginning.
I can't believe this is the direction the world is heading.
I craved the social aspect of it and for some reason I wasn't getting it.
Then it happened...another defining moment...A very special message came across one of my posts. It read:
"We wish you a merry Christmas! We wish you a merry Christmas! We wish you a merry Christmas And a happy New Year! Glad tidings we bring To you and your kin! Glad tidings for Christmas And a happy New Year!"
Broker Bryant and The Lovely Wife (pretend we are singing it works better like that) ROAR!
You may think, yeah so, what's the big deal? That comment brought me comfort, a warmth, reassurance, the feeling that "Everything will be OK!" It made me smile. In my mind yet another defining moment.
My first featured post,Yes my wall of words, heck it's OK I got 32 comments. Finally it's paying off! I was proud. The more I wrote the better I became.
Then things began to change. I changed. I reached out! I participated and became a part of the network. I made some friends, lots of interactions and looked to bloggers for inspiration and training. And then it happened, a little excitement on the rain.
Monika McGillicuddy wrote a post that just knocked my socks off but I saw it differently than the way she wrote it. An incredible comment exchange began.
That blog post evolved into the next blog post and then her article featured in a newspaper...I think you get the message...the message is still going strong on the network today.
I say recognize the defining moments! Not only recognize them but create them! Read some of your old posts and comments, you'll notice the difference. I bet you have improved! It's all about getting better!
Have you had an awesome defining moment? If not create one!
Hi Midori...that actually sounds like a fun project...I think I'll give it a try!
