ALL year long....People from all across America can travel to Congress and have five minutes at the microphone on any subject they choose. Congress has to sit there and not comment, but mark off the different subjects bought up......
After everyone has been given their chance to speak and congress recorded all the subjects, then the subjects with the most comments have to be addressed first and then worked on until solved. Then the next subject and the next until we have addressed the peoples concerns. In essence, we fed them their agenda for the next year...
Next, all the lobbyists can have a turn at the microphone to. They have to state their name, their organization, what it does and for whom and how much they have spent and will spend for the coming year. Then, their agenda (along with their affiliations) is to be published and discussed out in the open where the American people can see it and comment.
This mass migration to Washington done all year long by all Americans wanting to participate would be a boost to the economy. It would create jobs and use resources responsibly. In addition, people from all over America will be heard and this can only lead to boosting morale and eliminating hidden agendas fueled by hate and anger.
When someone complained, then the comment after that would be are you going to Washington this year to speak? You have a great idea, share it and lets see what happens....
Groups can video tape their comments and they have to be played and logged in too.
Congress and all elected officials can work in three shifts so that the comments can be given 24 hours a day 7 days a week. All newspapers are required to have reporters there and to report the activity and results.
Then, at each monthly session of Congress, updates are to be presented and solutions implemented. Items are then crossed off the list. A new list is started. This should go on all year long. Example of some topics that could have been heard and solved:
1. Foreclosures
2. Jobs
3. Health care
4. Price of gasoline
5. Government spending
The current system works very well. It is just is not working for the American people.
