Best Profiles on Activerain? What Are Your Favorites?

love the rainI am trying to show some examples of BEST Practices in 2011... and I've ALWAYS thought that having a well written Profile (resume in some places) is the KEY to your online presence.

I can't tell you HOW MANY PEOPLE I've pointed to Jeff Dowler's Profile.  When you read it... you know exactly what his next 30 or 40 blog posts need to be about.  You know he's going to write about his area, about what that "life style" is like, and you know WHY all of those designations are important!  I love his profile (like the way he writes too).  I like Renee Burrows profile for the same reason.

I also point people to Amy Hahn's Profile and Ruth Marie Hick's profile (who knew she was a scientist?)... and others who might not be well known like Mark Stornetta, and Ginny Gorman (love her shiny red shoes!)

There are a TON Of people who still have the ORIGINAL Activerain information on their Profiles... I STRONGLY suggest that if you're reading this - you take a minute to be sure you're not one of them!!

Activerain NOT best Practices

So, as you are looking around the Rain in the next few days - could you leave me a link to the PROFILEs you think are great, and maybe tell me what you liked about them? I'm going to re-work mine too... so I appreciate everyone's suggestions!

Happy New Year!

Writing profiles is one of my weaknesses. I get bored with it. I'm going to check out the ones you've linked to, maybe I'll get inspired!

There are lots of great ones.  Lenn Harley has the best geographical one.  A few seconds on her profile & you know definately where & what's available in her area.  Renee's is good because you can search by particular towns which I want to add.  Cindy from Indy just redid her's & I think she did a great job.  Not many people add enough graphics or color I think.  Just lines & lines of type makes for a boring read.

I personally like mine.

Thanks for the heads up guys!  I agree Lenn and Cindy from Indy have both done a great job!  It's HARD... and straight keyword text does not give anyone any clue about who you are!

What a nice compliment! I am honored that you think it worthy of others' review. I think there is a great numch of profiles here, and then some that are, sadly, pretty disappointing since they have little there to entice readers.

Thanks for posting this, gave me some great ideas. Thought mine covered it all but not nearly as colorful or graphic... in a good way that is! ;-)

It's always a good idea to brush up with new links and info on your profiles once or twice a year!  Always spend several hours on it when I do!

At the risk of being a downer... When you update your profile, you could lose Activerain profile points.  'Seems completely contradictory to me, but it can happen even if you go back in to correct a typo or add new testimonials. Be sure to take note of your profile points before and after the improvements, and contact support@activerain.com if you lose some.  They will probably give you bonus points equal to the amount lost during your edit.
