My First EVER White Christmas (night) in NC

It started snowing here yesterday evening, on Christmas.  We'd been awaiting it all day and wondering if it would make it.  It did, and before we went to bed we had a white Christmas.  The first one I've been a part of here in Wake Forest, and the first in this area since 1947!!  Here's what it looked like shortly before I headed off to bed.

First White Christmas (night)

We were forecast to get about 6 inches or so, and we did!  Here are some more photos of my front and back yard, respectively.

Now for fun with the kids in the snow the next day or two, as I don't think there will be much wood repair going on!

As a bonus, here is what my son spent his time doing on Christmas:  Thomas the Tank Engine!

Hope you had a Merry Christmas!

Have a blast with the kids! Snow is great -- especially when you know it will melt off in a couple of days!

My sister from NC and her family flew into Detroit yesterday, just beating out the storm.

During Christmas one year when I was in college, I went to visit my sister and her family in Laurinburg, NC. The day after I arrived, the snow fell (one or two inches). One of my sister's friends called her up in a panic and begged her to ask me to pick up her daughter from work (after all, with "all that snow," she was certain it was too dangerous for her daughter to drive... and this college punk from Michigan must know how to drive in such dangerous conditions).

So I took this girl and a few of her co-workers home. They were all high school seniors, and since I was a college guy (who could drive in the snow, no less!), I had instant status. They even made me cookies and brought them over a couple of days later.

Have a blessed and prosperous 2011.

That's a good way to get status.  :)

Thanks, Jason.  Best for 2011 for you as well!
