What does it take?

This is the age old question in Real Estate.  In a previous blog, I asked what everyone was doing now to compensate for the lack of continuity in the market.  So, these next couple of questions are really meant to tickle your brain a little and get you thinking about your business (because that's what Real Estate is...you run your own business).

  1. What are you doing to set yourself apart from the competition?
  2. Are you marketing as much as you used to when times were more lucrative?
  3. Are you writing different contracts and wording your ads differently to attract more clients or buyers?
  4. Are you teaming up with specific people in the industry to hel grow your business?

That last question should be the key to your success and really set you apart from everyone else.  It is just my opinion, but it has worked for me.  I look to form business partnerships with other Realtors that don't cover my current network, an attorney that can do speedy closings and has a customer service attitude, an insurance agent or agency that can handle my clients properly, and another mortgage professional that might be able to do a deal that I can't fund.

I'm wondering how many RE professionals out there are doing what necessary to stay ahead of the game, beat out the competition, and make themselves a true business owner.  I look forward to hearing from you all!

Great questions: it is times like this that focus us to become better.   We always should be confident in communicating our "Unique Selling Proposition"  What makes us different from the pack.   I agree having your expert team is the key.    Along with the team is knowing the numbers in your market and telling the truth to your sellers on what they need to do to get their house SOLD.   Being in the BEST condition and the BEST price.

My focus has been to expand the team of experts to include a home stager and professional real estate photographer.  My efforts are on getting the house in the best condition.  I spend very little on advertising of the house.

In  regards to direct marketing to my sphere and farm they all include a call to action statement.

It's funny you mention that, Jane.  I am currently trying to form a relationship with a home stager to strengthen my Realtors.  And it doesn't hurt to have a stager on hand for my value proposition to new Realtor partnerships.  Thanks for the comment!
