Like I say, keeping up with technological developments and new stuff can be taxing, like "swimming up a waterfall." What technology to adapt to real estate practice? What to ignore?
There are predictions on line all over the place on the topic of what 2011 will have to offer.
CNN Money/Fortune Magazine says 2011 will be all about smartphones, and posts a pretty convincing article supporting Android phones as the smartphone of the masses. And, according to the article, the masses will be mighty impressed with the opportunity to buy a smartphone for under $100 with no cell carrier service contract. With 33% of the phones in the hands of the public already smartphones, and the writer citing the manufacturers projections of tripling production in 2011, the future is clear. (You might note, BTW, that article is on a WordPress platform.)
And, I like my Sprint HTC Evo 4G so much that ol' Santy Claus himself delivered one for my wife last week. Dueling Evo's at my house!
And these fellows over at Digital Trends have a list of 10 technologies they say will DEFINE 2011.
Ready for Windows 8? Sheesh, I only got Windows 7 in 2009. Internet Explorer 9? It's out in beta, and prominent enough that the Triangle MLS is warning us to not use it. But, 4G is mentioned too, and that brings us back to the smartphone.
With Android tablets likely to become more enhanced over the next year, 4G will be a MUST for any urban area. Sprint led off, but if they lose that advantage, TMobile and Verizon want to be right there to step in. Regardless, that stress on wireless speed just confirms the increasing dominance smartphones will offer.
The answer for the enterprising REALTOR®? For goodness' sake: Go sell something. It has a way of making all the other stuff fall into place.
