Greetings from your Nova Scotia Virtual Tour Provider Nancy Bain and Supernova Studios.

Hey folks, I’m out back (outsourcing) on the deck! That’s right, there are 3 “yard boys” running in every direction making my world beautiful while I sip a pina colada in awe.

Wait now, before you judge.... It’s Sunday, and I’ve worked 76 hours this week and although I sip a pina colada outside, I’m also writing this virtual tour blog. My week is not yet over.

A company "outsources" when it hires another person or company outside its organization to perform work it had been doing itself. Companies typically outsource functions such as bookkeeping, accounting, human resources, payroll, and data entry. The advantages to outsourcing are numerous, both for the company who is outsourcing and the business performing the outsourced work.

To a layman, outsourcing would seem like a waste of time and money, as well as an unneeded complication.

But to a business person, outsourcing is a modern day boon. Outsourcing gives our virtual tour businesses the freedom to dump non - core, yet important sectors of its administration on companies specializing in those fields. Leaving you free to wholly concentrate on those areas of the company that bring in the real moolah.

As a virtual tour business owner your time is at a premium. It is important for you to keep doing what you do best: that might be in the creative side of the business, or in the customer side, or in the manufacturing side; wherever and whatever it is focus on what you do best, hire when you have a full time need (perhaps your business has a need for one or more full time sales representatives, for example), then outsource the rest of your needs.

And, if one of the things you do best is answer phones, or write web content, make sure that you carefully review whether or not you could outsource those tasks so that you can focus on higher impact/higher profit endeavors such as building good customer service and relationships, or focus on developing problem solving techniques for and/or with your staff, or on managing change and/or focus on your business plan outline and checklist.

It all comes down to the money. Let's face it; we live in a material world. Outsourcing my house cleaning, yard maintenance, bookkeeping and blog syndication afford me the time to focus on my core activities and streamline my business operations. It gives me access to professional capabilities, and piece of mind that the process is in good hands.

Letting go of complete control of my business (and home) operations was; at first, a bit of a struggle for this control freak. I was sure that no one could do any of these jobs as well as I could, and there was a certain amount of pride at the end of the day (when I fell in bed exhausted) considering all that I had accomplished.

But for every hour I spent mowing the lawn (a job that I did not enjoy) or cleaning the bathrooms (ditto) those were hours that I did not spend marketing my virtual tours, updating my website, building customer relations and engaging in social media – my passions.

"It's so hard when I have to, and so easy when I want to". ~Annie Gottlier

When I do the things I’m passionate about and love to do, I’m happier -in my element. I accomplish more things that matter (affecting my bottom line) which affords me the resources to grow my Nova Scotia virtual tour business. And, at the end of the day, I’m still pretty proud of myself. I didn’t really want to be the best lawn mower in the Martimes anyway.

Cheers!
