I have pulled Austin homes sales trends for November 2010 and it looks like to me that the Austin real estate market continues to plug along. There were 1,345 homes sold in November 2010, down sharply from November 2009 when the homebuyers tax credit was in full effect. Interestingly enough there were actually 14 more homes sold in November of this year than in October of the same year.
Average sales price is around $246,000 and there is a 6 month supply of inventory - which makes for a healthy housing market. Year to date, there have been 18,268 homes sold as compared with 19,240 sold during the same time period in 2009.
The relative strength of the real estate market combined with the healthy job market (existing Austin company hirings combined with company relocations into Austin) help explain why Austin is literally at the top of every business relocation list!
