BLOG ON BLOG: All you need to know about Networking. Last week I wrote a blog stating that I am going to start writing blogs on some that I have been old and new blogs that I have bookmarked.
Today's blog on blog is a blog called "All you need to know about Networking by Lindsay Pendleton"
Attending major networking functions is something that I plan on doing more of in 2011. While reading many blogs here on Active Rain over the years on Networking,I found out about the site www.meetup.com which is a place where you can join groups of your interests but you can form a group as well. Karen Kruschka blog Day #9, 10, 11 In The 31 Days Of December Challenge brought to my attention Rotary Club as a place to network for business. Also another place I've learned to network for business is Chamber of Commerce in your area. But you have to be a very Active member to be taken serious.
In Lindsay's blog, she mentioned three kinds of tips for networking.
- Tips for great networking.
- Tips for face to face networking.
- Tips for networking Online
She also mentioned some great information on Networking as well as some networking books. We all know that Networking is the most popular way for people to start and build a personal or professional business. But before you can anticipate or expect to generate business "YOU MUST ESTABLISH A RELATIONSHIP FIRST". I also believe you have to earn the person's trust. Don't expect to join a club or group today and expect business tonight-SORRY! But it is not going to happen. Besides how many relationships do you know developed overnight? Before you met Prince Charming or Fabio,I am sure it took some time to establish a relationship and trust with that person. Can't plant a seed and expect it to grow and produce crop overnight. Just like everything in life,it is going to take some time. The same thing also applies to business. So whenever you are at networking function, don't shove down people's throat your sales pitch. If they ask for your business card, then you give it to them.
Lindsay's blog is a very good blog. From this blog,I learned the do's and dont's of Networking. I am sure you will find this blog very helpful. In 2011,lets start networking for more business. And if you are already networking, continue networking and be more involved by attending more meetings, inviting people in your neighborhood to your organization-they might have some ideas/tips that can help make your group/organizations and meeting more effective,be more involved in meetings by maybe volunteering.
