I work with a lot of renters and the question I hear most often is "Is my credit score going to impact my qualification to rent a home?" The short answer, YES! (But not always, they are looking for WHY it's low and not that is low in MOST INSTANCES.)
Also, I am asked a lot if I know much about credit repair. I know what I know but it's not authoritative information that I would pass on to others. There's a lot of good information on the internet regarding tips for credit repair (and some bad so watch out!).
What I tell most tenants is pull your credit and review your file - you might be surprised what you find on your report and may be able to dispute and have removed. Below are the 3 agencies that are commonly used to determine your score:
