Head down to Newport Aquarium in Newport, Kentucky.  Just over the I471 bridge, easy access and parking at Newport on the Levee is available.

New Year's Eve they're partnering with WARM98 radio from 3:30 to 5 pm December 31, 2010 for their second annual Kid's New Year's Eve Countdown Party, including a special appearance by Scuba Santa at 5 pm to finish off the countdown!  As part of admission, they'll include party hats, noisemakers and other fun activities!

You'll finish up in PLENTY of time to get the kids home and the babysitter there before you head off to your own party!

Navona, It's another plus for our area.  About a 30 minute drive from most of our county to get to the Newport Aquarium.

Debbie, Definitely.  We haven't done this particular activity, but our nephew loved the Newport Aquarium when he visited us this year.

Anita, Thanks!  Sharks, Scuba Santa and Party Hats..there's a combo you don't get every day :)

Dorie, Definitely a great timing for the event for adults with a later party!  Everyone gets to party a bit :)

Laura, Scuba Santa has been making appearances most of the month, almost time for him to wrap it up until next year!  Happy New Year to you too!

Michael, Indeed!

Ellen, Never hurts to sneak in a little education under the guise of fun :)

Aquariums are such fun. The unusual lurk there and pique young minds.

Glenn, And there are no doubt some VERY unusual and bizarre inhabitants.  In fact, the Newport Aquarium has an exhibit that focuses on the bizarre :)

Not all kids know what the big hoopla is all about on New Year's Eve, but what they do know is that they too, like to have a good time on a grand scale.

Charita, And that's the fun part!  They'll catch on as they get older..but for the most part, I'd say New Year's Eve is one of least family friendly holidays...too many adults imbibing a bit too much.

Christine, They've been doing Scuba Santa for a few years...into the shark tank and swims with the fishies :)

Melissa,  There are, and after New Years, the Newport Aquarium is doing two free kids with each paying adult.  Pretty sweet deal for about two months.  We'll have to do a separate post on that later.  And got to your post, pretty funny :)

This is a great idea BLiz! The little ones hear about New Years Eve celebrations and feel left out being scurried off to bed.

Finally home and back to my own computer -- I won't be missing anymore of your Featured blogs!  Happy Almost New Year, BLiz!

Al and Peggy, We've got three posts up for family friendly activities in our area for New Year's Eve, so the opportunities are there for those that want them!

Cinnamon, Glad you're all back home okay!  And nothing like having your own computer back too!  Happy New Year to you and your family!  And we only had the one Featured, so you haven't missed much :)  Kicked the bee's nest a little with that one!

Yeah, I saw that.  Started to comment on a couple of things, including the blog that yours inspired, and decided to play nice and keep my mouth shut.  I'll go back and comment later, when I'm sure my "nice" voice will be the only one speaking!

Tish, We try to keep up on the family oriented items.  This week found a Cincinnati area forum focused on family activities.  Have offered to align with them if feasible.  We'll see how it works out.

Cinnamon, Only one or two comments that I would have considered a bit over the line.  Probably not too hard to figure out the one in particular :)  Sometimes people make assumptions without knowing us or what we're about.  Just because I say we want independence doesn't mean we're reckless in the field.

Bliz ~ what a great community idea for the kids!  They can have their evening in the daytime an the adults can celebrate later in the evening.

Dawn, It's the perfect timing for the grown ups wanting to have time to hit their own parties later, and little risk of the kids being too tired to enjoy because it's late!  With all their is to see at the Aquarium, the kids will be amped up during the visit!

We have lots of cool things in this city, but a big time aquarium isn't one of them. Sounds like a cool event for the kiddos...and some of adults that are interested in fish and sea life.

Scott, It's a neat place overall.  Doesn't have the size tanks that the Georgia Aquarium has, but pretty good for where we are.  And the kids do love it!
