You Just Never Know ... here in Ocean City, New Jersey

My plans for today began late yesterday after a lot of additional work snow blowing and shoveling all the snow drifts from the heavy wind the night before.  But the cars are now able to get out of the driveway, and the mail man can get into our mailbox.  Things are looking up here in Ocean City (NJ).

A fellow real estate agent phoned asking if she could take some solid buyers (how is it that everyone always has these "solid" buyers) into my $2 million plus listing at 8AM the next morning.  I responded that the owners were still at home (had come back from Florida for the holidays and new year), and that I would have to talk with them to determine how quickly someone could get into the house.  I was able to reach them, and it happened that they were leaving at 7:30 AM the next morning for something else.  I told them I would open up and close up the property remaining there while the buyers went through on their visit.  So I returned the call to the fellow agent ... and my listing became the first on her list for today.

So I was up and out of the house and down to the agency by 7:30 AM.  I picked up a few listing brochures and a key to the property.  I was at the property about 15 minute ahead of time with the morning newspapers (the one not delivered yesterday and today's paper ... THE PRESS of Atlantic City, our daily paper here in South Jersey and quite a good one.

Yesterday's headline in the paper was "Buried Again" ... a record 2 feet of snow closes roads, gronds planes (and the Eagles) and plunges the state into emergency mode.  Today's headline read "Shovel Day" (which for us was yesterday) ... wind keeping roadways covered.

The agent and the buyer arrived on time, spent about 20-25 minutes in the large 4BR/3.5BA single family in the Gardens ... the driveway was partially shoveled so they could park, and all five gas fireplaces were on when I arrived, and coffee was available with a note to offer same to one and all.   It had a warm welcoming feel to this great house.  The buyers have more places to visit, but I doubt that they will find one as warm and friendly as this one.

I was back at our house, which happens to be only several blocks away from this particular listing, by 8:45 AM with my wife making omlets for breakfast.  At this stage of our lives, it great to have her not working and tending to her garden interests and cooking all of those things that I enjoy too much!!              dap
