Inwood Vineyards - Dallas TX

I am totally shocked at the little deal we found with Inwood Vineyards in Dallas, TX.  Melissa saw an ad for them in the Dallas newspaper and told me about it.  While driving around town, we saw little signs giving us directions to the "vineyard".  It lead us back into a warehouse complex.  Yeah right!  I was expecting something in a box and hoping that I wasn't going to get stabbed.

The owner, Dan Gatlin, invited us in and gave a taste of the 2003 Tempreanillo-Cabernet and 2005 Palomino-Chardonnay at a private tasting bar like you would see at the vineyard.  We had found some a great wine!!!!  Whodathunk?

Melissa and I bought six bottles that the owner shipped to us for a modest fee.  We are on their mailing list and hope to buy more from them in the future.

Dan and his crew only made 400 cases of the red and 100 cases of the white, so it is not that easy to find.  You can either buy it directly from them or find it at some of the great Dallas steakhouses like Smith & Wollensky, Capital Grille, Ruths Chris, Del Frisco's or the Four Seasons.

Hmmmm.  It's amazing what someone can do with directional signs and good product!!!!!!

Ok, I deserve a little more of the credit here. I read an article about them in the Dallas paper. I saw the signs and I had to drag you kicking and screaming to the winery because it was in an industrial district. How about a "Melissa discovered a great place while we were in Dallas"!

Not only did he take the credit, he stole my blog idea and used my pictures. Oh well, I least I got some great wine out of the whole deal.

What I'm curious about is the directional signs...I'll bet they weren't the Ugly Yellow Kind with a Sharpie lettering, now were they?

That picture is HILARIOUS!  "Whodathunk?" is right!  It's like they plunked a tasting bar in as an afterthought.  It just goes to show, you can't judge a book by its cover.  Glad you had fun...  :)

Monika - I'm a thief.  What can I say.

John - It said something simple like "Winery This Way"

Lisa - Just took a quick taste.  No chug and drive.

Sandi - That bar sold the wine.  If we had just walked into a warehouse, we would not have walked out with wine.
