Did You Know? ActiveRain Snippets

There's lots of things that I'll do and then think "I wonder if others know this too?". These aren't big things in themselves to make a whole blog post about it, but I can put a few together and then share them all with you.

This group of  tips are specifically for ActiveRain...

Did You Know ...
Once you hit submit comment, have you ever noticed something you spelled wrong? Go back to your comment after and click the "Edit" link and you can fix it.

(Added note: The Edit link has a limited lifespan of what appears to be one day where you can still edit your comments, after that it is no longer available)

Did you Know...
update note: Originally in this post, I repeated what was heard mentioned that 9 words or less will not get comments points. That is close to true... however, more accurately it is how many characters in the comment you make. Any comments less than 50 characters will not get points. My post Getting Points for Comments explains this in more detail.

Did you know...
if you want a new line of text but without the big spacing between the lines, press Shift+Enter (instead of just enter). This is known as a line break and it won't give you the big spacing that a normal paragraph ends with.

This is especially useful at times such as when you are doing your address block in your blog signature.

If you learned something new, let me know... leave a comment!
(and don't just say "nice post" You won't get points! :)

This is Part 3 in my "Did You Know?" series. You can use that link to see the other articles

Craig, yes I learned something from this that I've been struggling with.  That being the proper formatting of line spacing in the post itself.  Everytime I would backspace into a former paragraph, the text would get smaller and smaller.  Now I know (hopefully) how to stop that from happening.

Although I do have another issue.  I save my post content on a word document with a specific font but when I paste it in for submission, the font gets lost and a smaller font is used for some reason.  Still haven't found the answer to that yet but I'm sure if I keep reading here, I will.  ;)

Thanks for being there for me.  :)

Karen - I'll be doing a post on blog formatting (hopefully very soon) - Meanwhile my suggestion to you is to FORGET MS Word for doing your blog content and use google docs (free, web based) and copy/paste goes MUCH smoother! :)

I found you Craig.  I'm repeating what I sent to you earlier regarding your answer to me on this.  Thanks again.  :)

Thanks for writing.  I actually learned all about not using Word late last night as I went through a number of your "training" blogs.  I appreciate you taking the time to write me about this.  Much appreciated.  I'm trying to go back through my comments to make sure that I've left everything as a "closed" issue with any questions or concerns I may have posed.  Thank you for taking the time to come back to me with your answers.  ;)

By the way, if it hadn't been so late at night, I probably would have gone through all your posts that I needed to help enable me to be better at the scenario you offer here.  AR is great!  :)

Awww, now I know how to avoid that big gap when I am writing.  I will also make sure my comments are more than 10 words to earn the "good" award.

I wonder how many other things we don't know that would benefit us all.  Just like our brains, we're all probably only using a small percent of our potential.  Thank you~

Cool sutff.  I had no idea about the 9 word minimum for the comment.  The edit link is a great idea too but I'm not sure where the edit link is.  That will be my next project to find that one.  Your posts are always helpful and informative.

I didn't know about the 'shift-enter' capability for shortening the line spacing. That will come in useful. Thanks.

What I would like to learn about is blog bookmarks that appears on your home page. this is the 5th line up from the bottom on the left hand column.

After reading your post, I realized I don't have a blog signature.  I hope there's a post on that! (and I am now counting the words).

Thank you for sending me this page!  I cannot express how great it is to know how to fix my signature!!!  It always seemed way to large and just a mess.  But with your help I feel it is much more appropriate!  Thanks again!

I noticed that sometimes I'm not able to post a comment at all( when comments are allowed), do you know why it can happen?
