Bristol Palin to Impact Maricopa Arizona's Housing Market

Most of you know by now that Bristol Palin, the Dancing With the Stars finalist", has purchased a home in my community of Maricopa Arizona. Whatyou may not be aware of is the impact thyat I expect this to have on the housing market here. Let me outline my thoughts on why this can only be a good thing for Maricopa Arizona.

  • ANY PUBLICITY IS GOOD PUBLICITY! To be honest with you, I could care less about having Bristol as a neighbor. In my eyes, she will be just another citizen, though the media will disagree I'm sure. The fact of the matter is that the majority of the public have no idea where Maricopa Arizona is and many of them will spend some time researching our city. If they do, they will soon find that we have some of the best real estate bargains available in the country.
  • $43.00 A SQUARE FOOT! The $172,000 that Bristol paid for her nearly 4,000 sq. ft. home will raise a lot of eyebrows. What many don't realize is that, despite the seemingly ridiculously low price, thgis home is located in one of Maricopa Arizona's most sought after subdivisions. Believe it or not, there are much better deals currently on the market, a fact which many "prospectors" soon will discover.
  • THIS STORY HAS LEGS! No not those of Bristol!! Once she moves to Maricopa Arizona, the story will continue to grow. I have no doubt that Bristol will enjoy the samll town feel of our community. A fact that she will surely share with the world. In addition, various members of the media will continue to "stalk" her every move  and keep the name "Maricopa" in the general public's eye.

There has already been a sharp increase in the number of inquiries that The Wizards of Waz and The Maricopa Real Estate Company have received over the past few days. This is in spite of the Holiday season. Since the first quarter of every year is always a very busy time for realtors due to the influx of seasonal buyers, I expect 2011 to start out with a bang!

Thanks Bristol! Welcome to Maricopa!! I look forward to meeting you and especially look forward to selling a lot more homes in the near future!

I posted about this a few days ago...the STORY is that she purchased it from ND flippers who made some $$$ on it even at her purchase price!

Hi Bill,  I'm sure the extra press is helping your community "get on the map".  It sounds like you have a lot of good investment opportunities in your area.  Good luck!

Good for Bristol, and good for you and your local real estate market.

That is true. There is a lot of "flipping" going on here. A group of 5 realtors, including myself, have flipped over 50 homes homes in the past year. Since short sales and foreclosures dominate the market in Maricopa Arizona, this will continue for quite some time.

Bill not all publicity is good publicity, although this is good. Where Bristol goes can Mom be far behind? At $43 per sq ft those are some fine values. Good Luck!

The reason I said that is about three years ago a national paper ran an article titled "Buzzards Circling Maricopa". It detailed the "bust" that was going on and essentially predicted our new community would turn into a ghost town. It included pictures of overgrown landscaping, rows of for sale signs and empty commercial space. It was also picked up by a number of national TV stations.

The town fathers were very upset at the possible effects on the growth of Maricopa but, needless to say, my phone began to ring off the hook!
