The Chinese New Year 2011-Simple Ways to Ensure Success! Part 1

The Chinese New Year 2011 Tips and Advice from Feng Shui LI and New York consultant

Are you ready for to ring in the New Year of 2011? Why not combine celebratory methods of the Chinese culture and blend it with your own :) There is an intensity of Energy in the Chinese New Year that is almost unmatched in other Celebrations! Many cultures around the world consider this date as New Beginnings and they want to start off with the BEST possible Intentions to have a Year filled with Blessings and Abundance in ALL areas of their lives.

The Chinese New Year falls on February 3rd, 2011. This New Year of the Rabbit is said to be LUCKY! It is also a year to catch your breath and calm your nerves, which we all need to do. It is time for negotiation in all areas of you life, to make things as fare as possible for all those who surround you. The Chinese believe, to gain the greatest benefit of this year is by "focusing on home, family, security, diplomacy, and your relationships with women and children". Your goal is to create a safe and harmonistic lifestyle so that you will be able to deal with any challenge that is presented to you.

Feng Shui Tips to pre pare for your New Year:

1. The most popular rule of Good Feng Shui....Clutter! Remember: If you don't USE it, NEED it or, LOVE it, get rid of it! By doing this, you lighten up you space and mind. Clearing out will allow new, fresh and beneficial Energy to enter into your life. Remember "energy rises". The energy of the items kept in your basement rise up to your living space. Take a look at the objects that reside below. Do they represent good fortune of the past year and offer you positive memories or should they be released because they hold negative or sad content.

This is the same for Anything that is stored in your attic is (quite literally) hanging over your heads.  Do you really NEED all those things?  Check under your bed while you're at it:  Energy needs to flow around you while you sleep to truly rest and restore for the next day.

2. Be sure to Clean, also known as a "Deep Cleaning or cleansing".  Dust away the cobwebs from your home and office spaces...and dust off your mind.  Positive thinking never hurt anyone.  Turn something around in your mind until you can find the POSITIVE-and keep it there.  Like attracts Like.  We get back what we send out.  Send out the best.

Attention to detail goes a long way. Look inside your refrigerator, get RID of old food and restock to start your New Year with Abundance.  BUY SOME COLORFUL FRESH FRUIT as another sign of abundance and place it on your kitchen or dining room table.  With Intention

3. Clear out your home with a Space Clearing.  You can use Native American Sage or clear by Sound with the ringing of bells....Do everything with INTENTION on what you'd like to attract this year.  Space Clearings should ONLY be done during the day, when the sun is at its highest point---between 11:00 am to 1:00 if possible.  Never at night.  Make sure you address the corners where Energy can get ‘stuck' or linger.

4. Make an extra payment on something.  Pay off whatever credit cards or other bills if possible.  The extra amount is not as important as the idea that you are creating a Debt Free year and starting it off with as little debt as possible.

5. Treat yourself kindly.  Take some time out to do something special for yourself.   When we treat ourselves well, it is said others will treat us well, too!  Maybe it's a manicure or that special outfit you've been wanting; maybe it's just taking home a movie you have wanted to see.  YOU are Special....treat yourself that way :)

Laura, What a beautifully illustrated narrative! I always enjoy your tips!

BTW we are doing some work on our home in the spring and I was wondering if you could suggest a book or maybe your website as a resource for feng shui tips. It's too bad you live so far away! Thanks!

Laura, I was just talking with my mom about Chinese New Year is going to be on 2/3/11.  I remember doing all the things you mentioned here when I was young and helped my mom to 'deep' clean the house.  I have plenty to do to get ready for the New Year. ;)

Laura -- I don't know too much about feng shui so I really enjoyed this post.  I will move on to part II and learn some more.  I was particularly interested in releasing the sad content.  I have a few of those boxes in my basement.  Need to decide what to do about them.
