Medical Park Pharmacy in Morehead City, North Carolina
Let me take you back to my first week living on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina...I promise, I will try to make this long story as short & sweet as possible!
My husband and I along with our 3 month old baby, moved to Morehead City, NC from Naples, Florida back in May of 2005. If you have ever been to Naples, FL, you know there is a Walgreens/QVC/Rite-Aide on every corner. Every grocery store also includes a pharmacy. Nothing against Naples, Florida (we loved it there), but going to the pharmacy was nothing to write about. No friendly smiles, no "good mornin'" as you entered the store...You were lucky if the employee even made eye contact with you...much less, actually spoke to you!
When we first arrived in Morehead City, we drove around to get a feel for the area. When I spotted a pharmacy within a few blocks of our new house, I stopped in with my prescriptions from Florida. It was a small, but well organized store and I must have heard a dozen "Good Mornin's" while transferring my prescriptions. Everyone was so friendly, including my fellow customers. A few weeks later, I entered into Medical Park Pharmacy to pick up my meds. Before I could even say hello, The pharmacist came out from behind the counter and said, "Hello Mrs. Hahn"... After the shock wore off from him speaking to me and actually remembering my name, I was able to pay for my purchase and go about my day.
Just a few weeks later, I had to take Tanner to the Urgent Care facility in town for an Ear Infection. As we were paying the bill and getting the script for Antibiotics, the doctor asked which pharmacy we used. When I told him Medical Park Pharmacy, he grabbed the phone and called them to see if they would wait for us! See, they close at 6 PM and it was 5:55 PM as we were leaving the doctor's office. Of course, they waited for us...but the doctor called the wrong location. When Tanner and I pulled into the parking lot at Medical Park Pharmacy, the Pharmacist was pulling out! He came back and asked if we needed something. I told him what had happened and said that we would come back in the morning! He didn't except that answer, he parked his truck, opened the front door, called the doctor's office, got the prescription over the phone, called the other pharmacy to let them know they could go home and continued to fill the meds! While he was doing all of this, he talked to me about my life in the Everglades and Florida (yes, he still remembered me after only 2 visits). When it was time to pay, I asked if cash, check or credit card would be easiest for him since everything was shut down and he said, "Don't worry about it...Just take care of it next time". I know, I know...Crazy! It is little moments like these that confirm that I am "HOME" in Morehead City, North Carolina. I just love the hospitality and the small businesses that make this such a special place to live. As I woke up yesterday morning with a lovely sinus infection, I knew without a doubt that I would get my meds and supplies at Medical Park Pharmacy! They are so friendly, so knowledgable and well...Just Wonderful. My only complaint is that we cannot get sick on a Sunday...They are closed! Knock on wood, that hasn't been a problem yet!
