Federal Reserve Tips to Avoid Foreclosure Scams

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate

The Federal Reserve Board has published a list on the Internet of five tips to avoid possible foreclosure scams.  Here in San Jose, it is surprising the number of people who still fall prey to scam artists in misguided hopes of saving their homes from foreclosure.  Most wind up in a far worse situation than if they had let a normal bank foreclosure happen.  Imagine being forcefully evicted from the home you thought you still owned and also discovering a crushing load of additional debt - placed on the property by the people "helping" you - was now your legal responsibility to payoff.

Don't let this happen to you or to a friend.  Follow this link, http://www.federalreserve.gov/pubs/foreclosurescamtips/default.htm, to see the Fed tips and for a short overview video.

For a while every company offering foreclosure help was a scam. I doubt much has changed.
