I strongly advise checking your credit report anyway, but this article points out one really GREAT reason:

Medical Debts Could Kill Your Refinancing

According to this report:  "Some 14 million Americans have errors on their credit report because of medical collections ...."

If that's correct, then almost 1 out of 20 Americans' credit standing is being damaged by FALSE medical bills being reported as delinquent and/or turned over for collection!
