15 Things Marketers Should Stop Doing and Thinking in 2011
Speaking of Social Media.....I am sure you will conclude with me..it's hard to keep up with this crap technology. And not only the mechanics of it all, but just reading about it all. I swear I could spend all day and night just reading all the things I want to read (including Active Rain blogs that are usually stuffed full of good stuff) but then when would I ever be able to sell real estate.
Sleep...it's so overrated....but I seem to like about 8 hours these days....
But, as we do learn about all these new things, we have to wonder, are they worth it? Are we spending our time in the right places?
You often need someone bigger than you (not size, silly) to bring things into perspective, and help you understand the big picture. A really big picture these days so it seems!
Christopher Koch seems to have done just that in his post, "15 Things Marketers Should Stop Doing and Thinking in 2011."
While there are 15 things, I had a couple "ah-ha" moments with these two:
More Volume Creates More Influence....it's not all about numbers but about how connected we are, and where those connections are connected...You know, like "word of mouth advertising." If someone has a bad experience at a restaurant they will tell 10 of their friends....it's not about have 5,000 friends on Facebook as much as it is having 500 that know you and will help you, or share your thoughts to others. Amen!
Publish It And They Will Come... Christopher is talking more about combining mediums to et people's attention, and I know I've got to work on that....adding more videos to my posts, vlogging more about my area, etc. Sometimes even making my post a vlog, instead of the written word. (I'm telling you, I'm gonna be an actor one way or the other....)
But I posed this question to some fellow bloggers this week when I asked about posting "personal stories" instead of just all market reports and listings. Sure, I know that is what Today's Buyer and Seller want, but they might want to know more about me, or my thoughts on some other subject. Trust me, I'll stay away from politics!
Christopher's article, 15 Things Marketers Should Stop Doing and Thinking in 2011 is certainly something we can all take pause, read, and think about how we'll move forward in 2011.
