Wrapping Up the Final Day of 2010 & the End of our 1st Decade of the 21st Century ... from Ocean City (NJ)

I plan to spend my last day of 2010 doing some useful activities through much of the morning and early afternoon.  I read a little this morning and then watched the TODAY program.  I'm headed out to pick up my Friday copy of the WALL STREET JOURNAL (I only read the Fri and Sat issues for the real estate, book reviews, some real estate information - no financials for me).  I'll make a brief stop at our closed real estate office and then head home to do some cleaning up in my 3rd Floor office at our home.  I also plan to head out to the fitness center before they close for the day early at noon.

Part of my afternoon will be finishing my 2010 Journal on film recommendations and book reviews so that I establish my watching and reading agenda for the next few months.  I may read for an hour this afternoon and get ready for a rather interesting, but not exciting, evening with my wife.  I say that for those of you reading my posting because it will be a great time for us ... but may not sound all that great for you.  We don't go out much on New Year's Eve ... no parties, major events, etc.

We have been reviewing and selecting a "real movie"to go to in an actual location.  It is the once or twice a year time when we venture out to see a film.  Although this year's picks are great, we try to focus on a good one ... but it must be a positive film too.  This year that has narrowed down our list a bit.  There are excellent films out there ... but many a bit too dark or gloomy for this day of the year.  So we plan to go to THE KING'S SPEECH with Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter which could be a potential winner in my of the 2011 award events.  We will also hit our favorite Italian restaurant either before or after our movie ... and probably be back home by 8PM or 9PM at the latest before most of the crazies hit the road.

We'll probably watch the news on television, read a little, talk about the film, and try to stay up a bit longer than normal ... but generally our history is to not make the changing of the year awake.

It's been an unusual year for us ... I had my best real estate year since 2005, maybe 2004 ... I picked up a partner in September who will work with me in the real estate business ... and I have recovered from a quadruple bypass surgery in early June that changed my world completely.  So as I jot my resolutions down this year, I"m not including one for weight loss ... my excess 40 pounds are gone.  Or for fitness ... I go to the fitness center about 5 days per week.  I will have several work-related and personal resolutions again this year which I have mentioned off and on in past postings ... but I leave 2010 with a lot of learning and joy that I am able to enter 2011!!!                                dap
