Richard - glad to hear it, thank you.
Chris Ann - you don't have to publish a number... you can just tell us (-2) or (+1)... each day.
Denise - I have no plan to include exercise in this program.. unless it become absolutely necessary.... (shiver).
Melissa - the points are the weight loss itself.
Jeanne - please do, I can use the company.
Alan - Good luck with the weight loss, and I'll be checking those numbers at the bottom of your post! Hey, if you're one of those "misery loves company" types, you might want to check out "Take it Off in the Rain" here on A/R. All the best in the New Year.
There are so many articles about how to change minor things to lose over time. You have the exact right idea. Good luck, I'm sure it will work out perfectly.
Alan - You inspire others with your self-commitment! The real issue is to create new eating habits ... not look for fad diets or substitutes for behavior changes! So I have about 6 1/2 hours in my time zone to ponder joining your "team..." Best of luck and good wishes for the New Year ....
Alan, just change it to 20 punds until it is too late (LOL). One pound a week is doable if you are trying to beat down 20 punds. Doing it every week for a year is not really a good idea.
And then, with 20 you would get a much larger team
Alan- a POUND a week? That may not be healthy- check with your doctor- 20-30 pounds might be more like it. The point is your health, not a number.
Alan,
In this little event first we need to enlist Jason Crouch he has done a great job. Secondly I will join in gladly with you. I also have found that since I have moved to Greensboro I have gained way to much. My doctor would agree. I am a bit taller then you at 6' 1" but about the same weight. So I will try to match you. I certainly need to lose about 50 lbs.
Alan, I'll be here cheering you on! You can do it and we will all be here for you if needed :) Looking forward to watching those pounds drop off! Happy New Year Alan!
Sad to say food is my hobby, it must be; I eat everyday! Have a very Happy New Year Alan.
Alan, good luck! See if Active rain will reward you with something like 10 points per pound. Some good motivation.
Hi Alan! I'll cheer you on! I don't think I'll publish my weight.....heck, I don't even want to know what it is. I might cry! But I am going back to spin class Monday and then my first ever Zumba class on Tuesday.
We can do this!
Sally - I'll check it out.
Karen - the idea is to change the pattern of eating.
Jack - it IS a behaviour change.
Jon - everyone should have their own goal... 20 lbs, for me, isn't enough. I have a series of goals... First I want to drop 10 pounds... then when I reach that (and I will), 20 pounds... then 25.... 30... 40... and finally 50... I really don't think that's too much to shoot for. If somehow I only manage to reach 43, it will still be a significant accomplishment... but really... if I shot at what the surgeon general thinks I should weigh... I need to drop over 100 pounds!! I'll see if I want to keep going once I reach 50 pounds.
J.P.F. - a pound a week is actually a pretty slow track, and that's what the doctors tell you to do... lose it slowly. I'm sure there will be weeks (hopefully the first few) where I'll lose MORE than 1 pound a week. And then there will be weeks where I'll plateau, and lose nothing... I don't want to think about the weeks where i'll regain weight.
Larry - allright, welcome aboard. We could enlist Tim Matsai, too... he did an impressive job. I'll be weighing in later this a.m.
Elizabeth - thanks for the support.
Elizabeth A. - for me, it's more than a hobby.
Gabe - LOL...
Ann - you don't need to publish your weight... you can just print a ( -3 ) as you lose weight... good luck. Si se pueda!
Alan, funny how those pounds magically appear one day. I never cared to watch them but that 40" waist was too much for me to accept. Some small changes and you'll be there in no time!
Kevin - I'd be happy to have a 40" waist at this point. I'll get there.
Hi Alan and Happy New Year!! I am with you on this one thats for sre though I am not going to post my weight. LOL. Pictures will have to do as I shed this excess weight. Joined a gym too! Good luck and look forward to the shared journey!
Martha - welcome aboard.
I see we are already starting out on the right foot. Suck it up, May. Ya want to lose weight or not?
Jane - huh?

Here's wishing you all success in your goal to drop some weight. It's not an easy task. That's why the word "die" is in diet.
If you feel like you're slipping and need someone to talk you down from gorging on a fried twinkie or that triple bacon bacon bacon burger, feel free to call me.
Craig - that's the root of the problem.
