Every summer just before school gets back session, school supplies go on sale.  Many places sell the spiral notebooks for just 10-cents each.  I usually load up on these for a couple of reasons.  First, I have three children and they usually do need them for school, but second...I use them for prayer journals.

About 5-6 years ago, I was taking part in a bible study at church.  One of the things we did during that study was prayer journals.  I'v heard of journals before, but I guess I never thought of prayer journals.  I remember when I sat down to write that I didn't know what to say.  I just stared at the blank paper and thought....okay, now what?   Finally, I did get started writing and now you can't get me to stop!

What started out as little paragraphs to my Lord, has developed into pages and pages and now books on top of books of my prayers.

I love to randomly reach in my box and pull out a book, open it and read my past prayers to God.  Looking back through them I get to see what was on my mind at the time, my praises, my dreams and my worries.  The best part is now I know how God responded to each of those prayers.  I love it!!

If you have never tried this, give it a month and see if you're hooked just as I was.

It never occurred to me on my own, but I had a friend who logged his "prayer journals" on his computer!  He said it was easier to get more thoughts and ideas down, because he could type faster than write.  He just saved them in files.

Nora,

If it works for you thats great anything that keeps you closer to the Lord is a positive thing . But I really dont think I can fit another thing into my day. As it is nightly prayers are running 30 mto 45 minutes becayse I pray for anyone who asks. really don't think I have the time to start keeping journals. but GOD BLESS YOU.

Great idea NORA.....I keep a Private Journal of Prayer Requests which is a list of other peoples problems and issues that they have shared with me and I have told them I would pray for them....and so I will not forget even one when I silently reflect asking for help for them

I needed to do this because I'm getting older :) and as my girls say jokingly Mom you don't have alzheimers you have " SOMETIMERS " LOL

I forget sometimes! Especially with how crazy busy life can get ...LOL

I keep a life journal, it gives me verses to read every day so that I can read the bible in a year, and I write my prayers and journal about what I have read. I love it!
