Is buying a home your New Year's Resolution?

The rules of real estate have changed over the last few years making it more challenging for some buyers to purchase homes.... even though they are priced better than ever.

If you are a buyer finding it challenging to purchase and want to buy in 2011 there are a few things that you can do to make it a greater possibility.

The FIRST thing is to get out your good ol' piggy bank. Remember your pink friend from childhood that you stuck every penny you could find in? That's the one. Dig him out and dust him off. More and more it is becoming necessary to have some funds going into a home purchase. Every penny that you can save toward your purchase is a good penny to have. It will increase your buying power and give your more financing options.

The SECOND thing that you'll want to do is find a lender that can help you work through the financing process. Knowing where you are at will tell you what your homework should be. From credit scores to purchasing options should really help know your time frames.

The THIRD thing that you'll want to do is give me a call (or shoot me an email). We can set you up on a search. Even if you won't be ready for six months we can start looking at what is available and get an idea of what is out there. This is a great way to keep your goal in front of you. Through our MLS system I now have the option of searching all Minnesota properties for you and would be happy to do that!

It's all about making the decision to move ahead with the goal. Buying a home isn't a spur of the moment "idea" but takes some planning. Today is a great day to start working toward it - what a great New Year's Resolution!
