Lou - I always enjoy your wonderful quotes. I hope that 2011 will see continued success for you!
Happy New Year Myrl, I know in my heart it is going to be a good one!
I gave up on resolutions years ago, Myrl. As I told Mary Yonkers, resolutions are like ice-cream; you pile 'em up and they look delicious but then they start to melt away :)
Tomorrow I am going back to my first spin class in, oh I don't remember how long. I said I would go to a Zumba class Tuesday evening. We shall see how long all this enthusiam lasts!
I like the idea of simplifying and cleaning too. I've got way too much "stuff"!
Happy New Year!
Myrl A trip to Amish country can have a profound effect - Happy New Year
Diane - I am very hopeful that you are 100% right!
Toni - I've had a few resolutions I couldn't remember after 45 days:-) In this past few years, I use the resolution time to take stock of changes which should generally be made for life, rather than just a year. I can relate to that ice cream melting away vision however.
Ann - About 5 years ago, I joined a health club, primarily for swimming laps. I have pretty much stayed with that since. I love swimming, but hate machines, and a lot of the other stuff at the gym. I think the secret is find a fittness activity that you truly love. Then you will have more success sticking with it.
Karen - The thing about Amish Country, is the folks living there have imprinted their wonderful spirit on the land. It is hard to visit that place, and not come away with some of that spirit within you! I wish more of America was like that!
Myrl,
What a wonderful idea, to simplify....You have inspired me to do just that. Thanks, A
Hi Myrl, Happy New Year. Love the 1.1.11 date, didn't do too much, certainly didn't write any checks, LOL. I decided not to make any new resolutions this year. I plan to work hard, play hard and enjoy a bit more of travel this year along with more effort on the on-line part of business plan. This next week will find me busy with new clients ( have things picked up or what- lots of contacts over the holidays) and getting a few new systems in place along with another new blog site that I negotiated ( photoblog anyone? ) So no new resolutions to worry about. Just a lot of work ahead.
Many of us should follow your advice and simplify our lives in 2011!
1 + 1 = 11
I think I get it.
A new start should get new math.
Myrl, one of my new year's resolutions was formed in December when I was considering getting new software to add to my already crowded arsenal for multimedia presentations. After thoroughly exploring it, I came to the surprising conclusion that new is not necessarily better. What I really needed to do was to better implement all those things I already own . . . and ignore.
Have a wonderful, simplified 2011. I hope to do much of the same.
Myrl, we're on the same thought link - I cleaned out 3 closets in the last 2 days. And, I put the Christmas decorations I like, but don't decorate with any longer, into a special box to give to the grandkids. I know when I was first starting out on my own, I had no extra money for decorations and cherished the ones my mom and grandmothers had given me.
As to my resolution: it's to be nicer to people. Sometimes I say things I really just shouldn't say and probably hurt feelings along the way.
Way to go Myrl! It doesn't get much simpler than Don't Worry Be Happy! Here's to a great day and a great year!!!
Ron and Alexandra - I first saw a wooden sign hanging in an Amish shop, with that single word, "SIMPLIFY." It seems in an instant, it changed everything for me. When you stop to think about it, we've probably spent a lifetime becoming more complicated, and in the process we have totally stressed ourselves out, while overlooking parts of life which are very important in the process.
William - I had a relatively quiet New Year celebration too. I slept through most of it. . .LOL There seems to be more folks interested in homebuying early on this year. I'm hopeful that it will continue and be a harbinger of great things for 2011. A friend sent me a great cartoon. It seems if I don't add to my resolution list before long, it will be too late:-)
Jim - 2011 is a "4" year. It's a great time for folks to get back to work. I'm hopeful!
Geri - You have made the same discovery I have over the years. New or upgraded software isn't always better than what you already have. I remember one pivotal year I ugraded a couple graphics programs, and was very disappointed to find, that the "improvements" were really only trade-offs. I hope you have a great 2011.
Juli - I find it so odd that I spent the first half of my life frantically trying to collect things, while I'm now spending the second half desperately trying to get rid of them:-)
Marilyn - That ole "Don't Worry Be Happy" song is one of my old favorites.
Myrl - My New Year's Resolution is to simply go with my gut and NOT spend so much time with clients that (regardless of what they SAY) are actually really lookers! I wasted way too much time with people in this category last year!
