7,000 is the number of real estate agents that are members of the Pinellas Realtor Organization.

7,188 is the number of residential transactions in Pinellas County in the first 8 months of 2007.

That almost means an average of 1 transaction per agent every 8 months!

We all know agents who have done more than 1 transaction this year - so where does that put the less successful ones?

I wonder if the 80-20 rule that became the 90-10 rule is now the 98-2 rule .....

Bill - Thanks for making me smile!  I'm not sure about the lawyer numbers. Down here there are so many real estate agents that the grocery stores ask to see your real estate license instead of your driver's license.  As for title companies, we're seeing lots of them shutting their doors - some that never should have opened them, and others that just couldn't handle the downturn.

Hi Sharon, I just did a piece this past week on the number of citizens in the US and the real estate licensees. One in every 116 people living in the US have a real estate license. Thankfully they are not all being used, but it sure feels like it some days.lol. A dispassionate number are in California. We have 23,000 plus in the county and these are the active MLS members.

I guess since Pinellas Realtor Organization has lost about 3,000 members in the last year or so,the real realtors are doing some business now!Very nice stat!

William - I think both Florida and California have a disproportionate number of real estate agents. Active is a relative term.

BLR Guy - real realtors do more than one transaction every eight months! When you subtract all the transactions done by the professional (and busy) agents, the share for the others must go way, way down. Thanks for the congratulations!
