"To survive, to avert what we have termed future shock, the individual must become infinitely more adaptable and capable than ever before." ---Alvin Toffler (1928- ), American Author

Out with the Old, In with the New
Now is the time to let go of the past way of thinking and implement changes. Many people associate change with money. It doesn't cost you a dime to change your way of thinking. This is something anyone can do, regardless of what kind of budget you are accustomed to living on. Change is inevitable so why not accept that it is your attitude that determines how well you will embrace change. To jump start the year of 2011 anticipate change.
"One must never lose time in vainly regretting the past nor in complaining about the changes which cause us discomfort, for change is the very essence of life." --- (1884-1924), French novelist and critic
Life isn't all beer and skittles
Life is not pleasurable all the time; you cannot always be having fun - but you can make it more exciting if you keep your eyes open for what's new coming over the horizon! Do you remember some of those old stories you were told as a child, think back to the ones that had a moral at the end of the story. Every good story has a moral to tell. Did you hear about the one about the frog? It goes like this:
"If you drop a frog into boiling water, he jumps out. But if you put the frog in cool water and gradually increase the temperature of the water, he'll boil to death."
Don't be left behind, or it may be impossible to survive. Look, see, observe what's coming down the pipeline, especially with technology, and the tools you need to stay in the business. When it comes to being professional, "don't get caught with your pants down."
Life is short and time is swift
Adapt quickly to change. Don't wait to find out what's working for everyone else. Stay ahead of the curve and get to the finish line with a smile on your face. It's like the marathon runner getting to the finish line. 2010 is over. We are all in a new race to get to the finish line and anyone can do it, even you!
"The salesman who sat up last night preparing today's call will not have to stay awake tonight worrying about what went wrong." --- Author Unknown
Actions Speak Louder than Words
Change begins with you. Why wait for someone else to motivate you from a seminar, class, convention, or seminar? What you do speaks volumes! Let's face it, 2010 was tough, but 2011 doesn't promise you that life is going to be any better; therefore, in the words of Eisenhower, remember this:
"In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable." ---(1890-1969), Dwight D. Eisenhower, thirty-fourth president of the United States
Enjoy Change
Persistence pays off. We are not getting any younger. Change is part of life. Capitalize on your experiences because although you may be a little older than you were when you got started in this business, you are more experienced and knowledgeable than those that came after you. Society and Social Security has taught many of us that we are a number and they expect us to never forget that we're not getting any younger. New technology teaches us new tricks, like it or not, it sure beats the technology we had growing up as kids, or what our parents or grandparents had. Can you imagine if you never implemented changes in your life from the beginning of your family roots - where would you be now? What would you look like? How would your life be different?
Embrace change because change is good and meant to enjoy. Do what you want while you can. Enjoy change; enjoy life!
"The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today." --- Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) thirty-second president of the United States
Some times you just have to take the bull by the horns and run with it. Have a GREAT New Year!
