New Years Day 2011--Crafting a Year I'm Excited About--Give Me More

It is no secret real estate can take over your life.  There is always work to be done--a contact that needs to be made, a property to see or show, marketing pieces to design and send--the list goes on and on.  There is always a new door to opened in this business and unless we rise to the challenges we will never know what might have been...

I wrote a three part series on the topic of balancing work, rest and play, and as we embark upon the start of a new year balance is on my mind. Although it is not possible to fit each day perfectly into the three areas, I make a conscious effort to complete my physical fitness program before I go to the office, and I try to wrap up the work day by 5:00 PM barring unforeseen circumstances.  That's a strong start to curbing my workaholic ways.

New Years Eve day was a full out real estate event.  We showed property, wrote an offer and had a listing appointment.  Those were all money making activities and none could be postponed due to travel and work schedules--some days are like that. 

Looking in the rear view mirror at 2010 I see a year filled with business challenges and changes sprinkled with many successes, but I want more.  I traveled to four countries, but I want to experience more of the world.  I always say I like controlled risk and adventure.  I plan to put more of each in my business and personal plans for 2011. 

 New Years Day set the tone for this pursuit of more in 2011.  I studied for my broker exam (with Pavarotti playing in the next room), I blogged and commented while sipping a delightful Christmas gift tea, I walked/jogged on my favorite trails at Trump National (and pushed myself to go that extra mile).  Okay, I did stop by the office to sign some documents related to the offer and prepare a file for a new upcoming listing. 

The 2011 business plan is in place, as is the vacation plan.   The year is starting strong and life is good as 2011 begins its 365 day dance through my life.
