Look Closely..(Squinting) Would You Call This Home Haunted?

Horror writer Stephen King owns this West Broadway Bangor Maine home and has made a good living writing about the macabre. The iron fence with bats gives the place the Herman Munster look..something that has added to the mystique of King's writing.  Would you think the home could be haunted?  Would it add to the value if it was?  Would it hurt a sale of the place you just listed if a home had the reputation of being infested with spirits from the other side?  Would you add value for it?  Listed anything lately or know of property in your area that has a reputation of being haunted?

Someone smart will buy it and make a bed and breakfast out of it, just like the owners of the Farnsworth House in Gettysburg, PA. They are my friends and making a killing of off the haunted rooms, the ghost stories in the basement, the ghost walks, the haunted restaurant, etc...TRUST ME, IT COULD BE ANOTHER GOLD MINE...If you want to learn more, check out the Farnsworth House on line... or call me.

OK, I looked really close, with a squint, my nose all scrunched up, and I sitll didn't see anything supernatural. DARN, and I really tried hard. Should I have seen something?

To answer the question, Nope never did list one. Sorry, I'm of no help there. I did show one recently where the wife killed herself in the home. The house was vacant and I told the prospective buyer of the situation prior to showing and they decided not to say anything to their young kids for obvious reasons. After we had left, the 6 year old said she did not like the lady that stood around in the kitchen. There was no LIVING lady standing around any part of the home when we were there!

Wow - These are great homes! There was a broker in California who actually marketed their homes as haunted and did quite well. I don't remember their name, but Google knows, I'm sure!

That could be interesting for a real estate agent to advertise. What would your headline be?

- Haunted House For Sale!

- Ghosts Included!!

- Sprawling Ranch with Large Kitchen, 3 Bedrooms, 3 ghosts and more!

I reallly enjoyed this post!

Gorgeous homes haunted or not!  I had a client tell me their home had ghost; after it sold.  I was glad she waited to divulge that little bit of information until after the deal was done.  I would have thought she was nuts but heard them myself when I was picking up my supra key.  She did say they were friendly ghost and loved kids.

James...really?

Okay, the white one doesn't suit me at all...

But I wouldn't mind haunting that red home, myself!

Konnie..I think you are right..if you thought there was a ghost that had not gone on to the other side in our Queen Anne Victorian mansion, every creak of the steps would remind you of your company, every thump in the night caused by your cat or dog or child would make you think of the pale friend you have on board that came with the place.  I know a fellow with a Houlton Maine home that he said was cold as a barn. It was harder than it should be for square footage / design to heat  and  he learned it was haunted on his own by an old lady who he periodically saw leaving a room every so often. She had owned the place with a child that had died in the home.  After two years of large heating bills, his wife came home with a bundle of joy of their own to enjoy and voila, ghost gone, heating bill dropped in half, home becomes warmer and spirit free. The new baby let her get on with the after life!
