START WHERE YOU ARE

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are”

Those words were spoken by our 26th President Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt became known as one of the greatest presidents in our nation’s history.

His words ring loud & true today.

  1.  Do what you can:  Each one of us has a special gift or talent.  It is unlike anything that anyone else possesses.  The secret is not in perfecting that talent or even understanding it; just use it to do what you can.  It may seem like the simplest act that won’t be noticed, or in your mind make a difference.  Don’t try to be like anyone else or think if I just had more ____(fill in the blank) just do what you can.
  2. Use what you have:  You may be waiting until you feel ‘qualified’ before you step out to accomplish that desired goal.  Do NOT wait…use what you have.  The outcome will surprise and amaze you!
  3.  Do it Where you are:  The old saying about the grass being greener….??  Realize YOU are where you are supposed to be. Don’t look to the other side of the fence thinking to wait until you get over there to make a difference…..Do it where you are.  Be sure that your successes will grow until the fence can no longer hold you.

When Theodore Roosevelt negotiated the treaty that ended the Russo – Japanese war in 1905 he had no idea he would be the first American to win the Nobel Peace Prize.  He just did what he could, with what he had, where he was at!

Very nice.  #2 especially strikes close to home for me.  Thanks for putting it into words.

Deb, this is such a great post! We sometimes over think things, or don't believe we can do them at all. Just start where you are, simple words that carry a profound meaning.

Thank you for reading and commenting.  I think we post mostly about those things we need to learn and do!   I admit my guilt.

Happy & prosperous New Year to you both!

Great post...I've always heard that if the grass is greener on the other side of the fence...they pay a higher water bill.  It's nice to be in a place where your happy with what you were given, have and are.

Fabulous post! I am a living example on a daily basis on this, as I believe we can all achieve anything we want to, it's merely finding the steps to take to get to the destination. Thanks for the reminder!

Hi Deb - This post really resonates with me, as I struggle so hard with feeling "not enough" in various ways, particularly some days. Thanks so much for sharing it with us here in the Rain!
