Baby, It's Cold Outside, I Mean Inside!

~ Baby, It's Cold Outside, I Mean Inside! ~

I went to bed last last.  All was well.  I snuggled into my bed, underneath the electric blanket.  It was a good thing.  This morning when I woke up, my house was a cold 55 degrees!  Yep, you heard me....55 degrees.  Brrrrrr!

I layered myself in clothing.  I then went down in the basement to find out the problem.  The igniter wouldn't stay lit.  More money out the door...and it's going to be overtime as well!  Crap!  And now, I have to stay home and wait for the service guy to arrive.  Change of plans.  I will stay at home and continue to work on my taxes.

I took Kobi out for a walk.  It was about 34 degrees out.  So when we got home, it actually felt warmer in the house! I turned on my gas fireplace and grabbed a few blankets and went to work.  I did take a break and did some cooking.  At least having the oven on helped a wee bit.

Ahhh, $220 later, I have a warm(er) house and a working furnace.  Moore Heating and Air Conditioning was my savior.  They are a local family owned company with high integrity based in Aurora, Colorado.  I have used them for my HVAC needs and have referred them to many friends and clients.

It's always good to know reputable contractors to call when in an emergency.  And being in real estate in the Aurora and surrounding areas for almost 18 years, I compiled a list of contractors for just about anything.  So even if you are not ready to purchase or sell a home, but do need a contractor referral, give me a call.

A toasty 55 degrees?  Wow! open some windows and let some cool air in.  No wonder you needed to walk the dog.

Why is it that furnaces decide to break down on the weekends?  Glad you have a reliable company to call in an emergency.

Dawn,

Definately brings back those memories from winters gone by when the furnace blows a fuse, or something!!!!  Having lived in Aurora since 1976 I certainly appreciate a reputable referral in my area and have made note of it.

Glad you are warm and toasty!

Gee.....I turn my furnace down to 55 degrees at night on purpose.  Really HATE paying that utility all that $$$ each/every month so I try to keep the furnace to a minimum at night....and during the day it goes to a big 63 degrees and everyone wears a sweater.

Stay Warm!

Dawn, been through that a couple of times...and fortunately I've been able to fix the problem or new someone in the business.  Having a reliable source is huge and being able to pass that info along...well...priceless to those who need the help.  Stay warm out there.

The manufacturers of most of the furnace parts cannot be purchsed on the open market. The HVAC guys are the only ones with  access to these parts.

You know I was only kidding with my comment above, but Kathy Burke with the 55 degrees night time temp and 63 daytime is a bit too cool even for me.  Wow!
