SO much happened this past year for us and I am sure for each of you also. Family time is precious and every moment counts.
This past year watching our son grow is such a highlight yet after raising 8 other children we know how fast time goes. We want time to stand still even for but a moment to hang on the beauty and innocence we see in our son.
With the first set of kids we pushed each of them to take their first step, ride their first bike without training wheels and read their first words. But time is a hard lesson. If you are young and have young children, learn from all of us because you may not get the miracle of a second chance like we did.
Enjoy each moment and slow down. Don't rush anything with your children for time flies by and they will become only memories.
We watch our son when he is smiling, when he is sleeping, when he is playing, when he is learning. We want to hold that moment for more than a photo. We embrace that moment wrapped in the joy that Tristan brings to our lives. He keeps me in balance.
Each morning when he wakes up he has his ritual. He comes to me as I am working online on my computer for his "morning hug". He hugs me as if he has not seem me for a week yet it has only been a few hours. I then stop whatever I am doing and move to his favorite couch to hug him.
No rushing, no pushing, no answering the phone, no guilty pangs, no excuses. Just pure loving arms. Then we go to our kneeling area to kneel down in morning prayer. I always wait for him to wake to have our morning prayer. Then we read a chapter from the Holy Scriptures. What a peaceful and glorious, blessed and wonderful way to spend a few moments on what is truly important in life and for eternity.
