~ Email Challenge ~ Answering "How Do I Put MyActiveRain Blog Into Groups?" ~
This was literally too perfect today. I posted a comment on Glenn Freezman post because it came up on the blog roll about 6 times. I thought it was just another attempt at forcing us all to look at a post a million time but turns out it was a new AR member not knowing exactly how to post into groups or categories. He privately asked me about my comment on "ha, publish this much?" and I explained how it had been published to the blog roll over and over again.
He emailed me back that he was told he had to do this to get his blog in various categories and I mentioned that on categories you only choose one and that's the one it's in but in groups you can post up to 5 times.
We emailed back and forth a couple times and my last email to him prompted the perfect email for the email challenge, so here goes!
"Glenn,
When you post something or write it on AR, you are given the options below that start with
Post To: Under that you are given 5 choices:
Hyper local pages
ActiveRain Channels
My Groups
Categories
My outside blog
The local pages are for listings and information about a specific area. Only post there with those blogs.
The channels are certain topics either for consumers or professionals. You choose where the blog fits.
My groups can only be used WHEN you have joined some groups. Go to the groups page and join a few.. on the left is the most active ones, then you can post in 5 of them per blog
The categories are only one per blog as well, so find the best one for the blog.
My outside blog is for Rainmakers only so I don't know if you have that. These are for rainmaker accounts so non-accounts may look slightly different.
Hope this helps... let me know if I can help further Tammy"
I have since figured out that the non-Rainmaker accounts can only post to channels and categories and not groups. Those are the only options.. the Hyper local pages are excellent for features just in a specific area.
I know those work because I looked up when the Ozark Christmas Parade was and found an ActiveRain blog about it as the number one post! Gave me all the information I needed.
As far as Glenn, he has some GREAT information and love his posts. Definitely check him out!
