"KNICK-KNACK PADDYWHACK-GIVE THE DOG A BONE-THIS OLD MAN CAME ROLLING HOME"  #4 Now, how does verse FOUR go?  And, What has it got to do with Real Estate?  As I reflect on this little song we teach our children, I think of the things I (an adult) have learned about real estate and sales.

"This old man, he played four-he played knick-knack on my door, with a knick-knack paddy-whack-give the dog a bone-this old man came rolling home..."

The number four has a symbolism behind it that reminds us of the four-corners of the earth, the strength of a fortified city, and a place of security-a la the home.

To be invited into ones home and to cross the threshold of entry is of great significance to the REALTOR®:  to have an opportunity to serve, to become part of that family, and to become a vanguard in their lives.

Think about the DOOR: it is closed to many, opened to few, and is passage to a place of trust.  When we ask a homeowner to entrust the sale of their home into our hands, we ask them to open a door of opportunity to much more than a listing-we have opportunity to build a relationship, to gain trust, and to become a significant part of their lives.

How do you play knick-knack on my door?  It is much more than a game, and it certainly isn't child's play.
