New Year means new property tax assessments in Nassau County, New York. In looking through my lsitings so I can update the taxes on line I was pleased to see that most of them have gone down, and those that have gone up, have gone up minimally. January 4th is also the day that your property taxes are due.
For most people with a mortgage this is a seamless process that you bank handles with your escrow account. For those that pay your own taxes - the time is now.

On lower right click on link for PROPERTY SEARCH 
On the next screen ACCEPT THE CONDITIONS 
Next screen is where you enter your property information. If you know your Section, Block and Lot you can use them. If not you can use your street address. Only Street is required and you can select your house frm the next screen, or it's easier if you enter street name and number. 
This will take to to a page with al kinds of information on your home.
On the opening screen you will see the value of your home according to the County for last year, this year and next year.
The next tab explains the VALUATION PROCESS that was used.
The next tab shows your GENERAL and SCHOOL TAXES for the current year. There is also the option to look at the taxes for previous years.
The next tab is the PROPERTY DESCRIPTION on file. The next tab shows RECENT SALES on your property. At this point you are probably the last sale. the last tab is a new one this year. It features FAQs.
Across the top is interesting information as well. You can click on the pictures to view your TAX MAP, AREA MAP, PROPERTY SKETCH.
