Auto-Size Elevators Bring Your Car Inside Your Home

Wonder if this will catch on?? A Singapore-based developer, Hayden Properties, is building a 30-story condominium with individual elevators for cars so owners don’t have to worry about their wheels getting dinged in the garage. "It's not a gimmick. I love my cars and I'm worried they might get accidentally dented in a shared car park," says Ong Chih Ching, director of Hayden Properties, who owns two Porsches and an Aston Martin. "This solves that problem and lets you look at your car all the time." Similar buildings with individual high-rise garages are being built in the United States and Dubai, but Hayden's $663 million project would be the tallest, Ong says. Source: Reuters News (09/14/07)

And the cost of these would be in what range??? That will determine whether or not this "catches on".

Hmmm this might be a guy thing, but I for one wouldn't want my car inside my house and looking at it all the time!!  It can stay in the garage where it belongs.

I saw this in three different sources yesterday, and was going to blog about it next week sometime... I have a list.  But, since you beat me to it, I can cross it off.

First, cool.

Second, I wonder when builders are goingt o realize that there are a LOT of people that really like their cars, and build properties for those among us that are more "Car-centric'?

Linda,

It doesn't lift the car into the house, but rather puts it on the patio, outside.

Sorry I beat you to it Lane.  I think it is pretty cool as well. At the right price point, and where space is a premium, this could work.  New York, Los Angeles, on and on.  Singapore is a little far away for me at the moment:-)

Bruce, we have an abundance of Collector cars in the area, and several environmentally controlled storage / garage facilities.  A high rise would probably be welcomed, or at least a mid rise.

How about the dings it would get from using this? Hmmmmm, well i would just take the chance and leave it parked in the garage.

there is a similiar one for colleges.  There are groups of kids with too much time on their hand willing to take the car apart and put it back together in a professor's office!
