So I'm a music fan. I love most types of music (although Country is low on the list). I heard on the news tonight that Gerry Rafferty passed away. He wrote the famous "Baker Street". I recently read that you should blog about more than just work... that you should blog about yourself so that your readers can get to know you better. I'm not sure if I agree or not. As a matter of fact, I haven't followed any of my friend's blogs because I always thought they were boring and pointless (blush!).
However, I'll blog about my love for music.
I have a pretty emotional attachment to music. I associate all sorts of major life events to specific songs. When I was a child, my favorite song was Popcorn (by Hot Butter). As a toddler, one of my only memories is dancing around to that song.
I've sung in the church choir since I was in Elementary school. I love good choral music. I think it's just beautiful. One of my favorites is One Hope, One Faith, One Lord.
I'm also a huge Rock n Roll fan. I could go on and on and on about my Rock favorites. The Eagles, Journey, Classic Rock, Hard Rock... I just like Rock.
And, lest you think I'm not weird enough, I also am a huge fan of Handbell music. I've been playing in handbell choirs since I was in the 6th grade. Check out the Raleigh Ringersto see a really good example of a handbell choir. The Raleigh Ringers are a "Community Choir" of auditioned ringers that practice insane amounts each week. I was introduced to Community Choirs a few years ago and joined the Austin Handbell Ensemble in 2003. Then, after the birth of my second child, I decided to form a group closer to home (I was commuting 1.5 hours each way on Monday evenings to be with the Austin Group), so I am a founding member/founding President and current interim Director of River City Ringers of San Antonio. It's been a really fun journey, and I'm blessed to be able to perform with other fantastic musicians. If you're ever in the San Antonio area in May or December, check out our concert schedule and come see us!
Thanks for putting up with my more "personal" blog... if you like it, great - leave a comment! If not, just ignore my ramblings and stick to the "professional" blog. :)

Sad news to lose such a talent. And at only 63, he was gone before his time.
I had not heard this, thank you for posting it. I did not know he was Scottish....and it is SAD that he was so young and talented.
I know - he was enormously talented and will be greatly missed. I also had no idea that he hated being famous so much. So sad.
Tara, I enjoyed reading about your life with music. Keep it up! You are not too late to join the challenge. Go join the group and keep posting! Let me know if you have any more questions!
