Habitat for Humanity does a great job of helping folks grab the rung on the ladder of homeownership with their aggressive program of community outreach and low-cost construction.

Along with that effort, they are well known for recycling building materials through their ReUse Centers.  Habitat for Humanity ReUse store, Raleigh, NC

You can find all sorts of building materials at the ReUse Centers.

New stuff.   Used stuff.  Closeout Items donated by retailers.  Surplus donated by builders and contractors.  And when you find that little gem that fits perfectly in your old home, or new decorating scheme, the discount price is right at the Habitat for Humanity Reuse Center.

It is also a great place to donate items.  Proceeds go to the Habitat mission of providing homes and building communities.

Right now, the deals are better than ever.  The Wake County Habitat for Humanity ReUse Center is moving.  They are headed for a new location.  Lost the Lease?  NOPE!  They BURNED the lease.  Wake County Habitat for Humanity has built their own modern facility just up the road at the corner of Raleigh Boulevard and Westinghouse Boulevard.

FANTASTIC!

Donations are not the only source of inventory for the ReUse Center.  Through Habitat Wake's DeConstruction Program Staff and volunteers remove usable components and materials from homes that are being remodeled or razed.  The DeConstruction Program is a leader and model in recycling and reusing building materials.  That keeps tons of usable materials from being added to construction landfills each year.

Support your local Habitat for Humanity.  Support the ReUse Center and DeConstruction Program.  The benefits to the environment and to the community will make you glad you did!

Mike, what an asset to the community.  I think North Carolina is way ahead of the rest of the country when it comes to recycling.  When we lived in Greensbor they had this incredible recycling program going on.  We moved here to Texas and I don't think our community knows what the term means.  I miss being able to recycle like we did there.

Marchel,

It all starts with public support.  And Habitat has good support locally. The new facility is testimony to that fact!

Thanks for reading and replying!

Thanks, Susan.

I have donated about as much as I have bought.  Probably more, considering all the stuff I hauled in when I closed my roofing service.

A Saturday at Habitat ReUse Center and Sunday at the Fairgrounds Flea Market and I have my junque fix for a few months.

Wow-your affiliate's store is NICE!  Ours is called the ReStore, and I love that my clients send their stuff there instead of the other available non-profits.  It just makes perfect sense for us real estate folks to build houses out of cast offs!

Lee,

The "old" store was such an improvement over the store from 10 years ago.

And, yes, the new store looks fantastic!

Mike,

Wake always does it BIG!  Our local habitat store is a treasure trove of stuff but it is in an old building supply warehouse.  Habitat's new Wake county facility looks like a big box retail store.

Rita,

I haven't driven up to the new building yet.  It does look pretty spiffy.
