There are approximately 6,000 households in the Wilton community, according to the 2000 census.    The public school system is one that continually strives for perfection, in the arts, sports, and academically, consistently receiving awards for excellence. Wilton schools consist of one pre-K – grade 2 elementary school (Driscoll - Miller School,) one school for grades 3-5 (Cider Mill School,) one school for grades 6-8 (Middlebrook School )and one high school (Wilton High School.)

Wilton is a rural/ suburban residential community of approximately 18,000 people, located approximately one hour by car or train from central New York City. Historical sites are represented throughout the town and the small downtown area has a village atmosphere.   You will find a four screen cinema multiplex, restaurants, coffee shops, a library, the famous Village Market, its own Play Shop, and a great variety of shops and churches. Wilton has community parks for swimming: Merwin Meadows has a swimming pond, playground and picnic area, and Kiwanis Park, run by the YMCA, has a beachy pond and wading pool.   Other parks offer scenic trails and fishing. There are public tennis courts galore, private tennis clubs, and a private golf club.

Bradley Park (near us and lots of trails!)
86 acres of trails, boardwalk and wetlands on Oak Ledge Lane or Graenest Ridge

Cherry Lane Park
 off both Cherry Lane and Banks Drive, 50 acres, trails, a pond and picnicking.

Merwin Meadows
The only town-owned community swimming spot. It is a spring-fed fresh water beach pond located on the charmingly named Lovers Lane.  Even has a diving board, large playground, picnic area, and lifeguards!  The stream running into it is great for catching polliwogs!

Quarry HeadHuckleberry reservoir in Wilton CT
32 acres, trails, old quarry and overlook.

Horseshoe Park
6 acres of trails, a pond on Horseshoe Road near town.  Sad, the town wants to let it fill in….

Schenck’s Island
13 acres of trails, picnicking and a river located on River Road.  Nice to walk your dog…

Wilton Town Forest
Boas Lane and Branch Brook Road, 188 acres of walking, bridle trails and camping.

Wild Duck Reserve
16 acres, trails and nature study.

Woodcock Nature Center
146 acres through Wilton and Ridgefield, exhibits, nature store, educational and recreational programs.   Run great fun programs for the kids and the community!

Good morning, Dagny.....I can remember when Franklin was 18k in population....that's a nice size....then the building boom hit us....now we're 33k with traffic jams.....Wilton sounds like a perfect place to live.

Barbara - It is a quiet suburban town, similar to what Franklin was - we have a quaint town off of Route 7 (goes thru middle of geo town) that is very New Englandy

Dagny I have only been through Wilton a few times, but each time that I have driven through the town I have been impressed.  I have had the opportunity to be in the gymnasium of the High School about 10 years ago, and it was state of the art.  I have not seen one better in the state.
