Yes, that's right, former Seattle Mariners (and Cleveland Indians) manager will be back in the dugout next summer.  He has agreed to manage the Liberal, Kansas BeeJays, a semi-pro team located less than an hour's drive from where he grew up and has family nearby.

The BeeJays season is two months long.  Hargrove has been looking for a way to give back to the people and places that were instrumental in his career.  He played for the BeeJays in 1972 while on the roster for Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Huh?  Isn't coaching a semi-pro team a little beneath Hargrove's abilities?  I had higher expectations.

Larry - I think it's great!  I'm sure he'll prove to an inspiration to all the 'kids' he helps out

Jay - I don't know... this place is close to where he lives and he wants to stay close to family

Jim - I have to confess, I don't really know too much about Hargrove... only that he was in Cleveland forever before he came to Seattle.  It was a shock when he 'quit' in the middle of the season!

He went to two World Series'....and if I'm not mistaken, managed the only team to succumb to the Atlanta Braves during their division-winning stretch. Ask me and I'll tell you that he simply didn't screw up a few teams loaded with talent.....this year seemed to be his best production:talent season....in Baltimore he never did a thing- who knows? He made a nice long, profitable career out of the game- good for him!

Jim - Sounds like he's your 'favorite' coach!  (8  - The Mariners 'just' announced that the front office (Bill Bavasi) and head coach (John McLaren) will remain for next season... Not sure I agree... Bill Bavasi did get some "good" players... maybe we need a motivational speaker to light a fire under these guys!
