Did you know that over 12,000 women in Florida will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year? Yet less than 10 percent of low-income and uninsured women in Florida are eligible to receive quality breast cancer treatment.

Many women are being denied treatment based solely on where they were screened. This is unacceptable. We can do better in Florida. We must do better.

On Saturday, September 22, the Komen Community Challenge will be in Orlando at Hard Rock Live at Universal City Walk(R) where we will rally to "close the gap" in access to quality breast cancer services. It is very important that we have decision-makers by our side to show their support and leadership, since they are critical to improving breast cancer prevention and treatment in Florida.     

I just sent my representatives a message, asking them to attend the Komen Community Challenge rally on September 22. Will you join me by sending invitations of your own?
