Federal Government - Job Killing Beast?

Helping Keep People in Their Homes

Republicans plan to cut Federal spending $100 Billion this year, calling the administration, agencies, and spending "job-killing".

Out of control borrowing has created an enormous deficit that Republicans hope to start erasing, on top of even more enormous future, unfunded liabilites in pension and health care areas.

How does one shrink the Federal Government and not cause a deccrease in the economy. the GOP thinks the private economy will pick up the slack and create jobs and wealth the government never can.

This is juxtaposed with the many safety jobe the government does from, military, border patrol to food and drug, among many others. Would as many people still have homes if the government wasn't trying to keep people in them? Would the crisis have happened if Fannie mae and Freddie Mac had not existed and participated in the bundling of mortgages into securities?

We will see which side, and philosophy wins in the future  - meanwhile debt piles up - is Congress fiddling?

Dennis - Unfortunately, neither political party is willing to do what is necessary to solve our nation's problems.  DC is filled with politicians, not leaders; and until that changes, we'll continue to apply temporary "patches" to the economy.

"I listen for a living." It's all about you.

It is time to get away from the partisan politics and get to the hard work of righting a ship that took on way too much water with the invasion of Iraq and was compounded by the meltdown of our economic engines through the reselling of mortgage backed securities that were anything but secure.

I want this comeback to be an American thing and not a Republican or Democratic, or even a Tea Party thing. While ideology has its place, being an American and keeping this country strong and vibrant is more important in my mind.

Leadership is really lacking no doubt about it.  Where is a stand up person who can get things done anymore?

I think both and all parties need to go away.  We then need to put in house wives, mothers, sisters, grand mothers etal to take the jobs of these non-doers, nay sayers.  Women are familiar with compromise, management, multi-tasking, versatility, budgeting and sensibility.  We would be getting a lot done with out all the petty bickering and the egotistical - who can pee higher on which wall.
