SPRING HILL - FLORIDA'S BEST KEPT SECRET

Spring Hill Florida is on Florida's west coast, 40 minutes north of Tampa.  We are called the Nature Coast.  We have lots of birds, manatees, black bear (although I've never talked to anyone who has seen one.) and of course tortoises.  I love the Sand Hill Cranes.  They are so regal looking and they are usually always in family groups.  They mate for life.  I love them.  They can be seen all over Spring Hill.

One of my favorite tortoise stories is my partner and I were going to Target to pick up some things we needed and as we were walking up to the store we saw a group of people watching something and we realized it was a rather large tortoise making his or her way into Target.  We knew he would be injured or killed if he continued on as I don't think they would let him shop.  We got a shopping cart, picked him up and put him in the cart and proceeded to take him back to an area where there were trees and ground for him to get around in.  After we went back, people came up to us and thanked us for helping him out.

I digress - we also have the Weeki Wachee Springs, home of the Mermaids and our water park.  The springs are some of the deepest in the U.S.  During the summer months the mermaids perform their shows.  This has been going on for many years.  Recently they had former mermaids from over 20 years ago back to perform.  The park is packed in the summer.  They are open weekends in the fall.  You can also rent kayaks or canoes to go down the river where you can see manatees, the occasional alligator and snakes and various other water dwellers.  They pick you up at the end of the ride and bring you back to your car.  This is something you have to book in advance because its a very popular activity.

Spring Hill has many golf courses to play.  Silverthorne is in a gated community but is open to the public.  There is also Seven Hills, Oak Hill which is being renovated and some other smaller courses.

Rogers Park is part of the river that is set aside for swimmers.

Pine Island is our small beach.  Its a favorite of people watching the sun set.  We've done it once and it was worth the time.  Its fascinating sitting and watching the sun disappear beneath the water.

This is Spring Hill in a nutshell.  We are close to Clearwater beaches and St. Pete beaches.  We are only 1 1/2 hours from Orlando and Disney.  Its a great location for second homes or retirement homes.

I would love to show you or your customers around.  If you are ever in the area, give us a call.
